ANNOUNCEMENTS
*[Please stand for the lighting of the candles]
* CALL TO WORSHIP: Jessica Skidmore
Leader: Look up to the mountains;
Does my strength come from mountains?
People: No, my strength comes from God,
who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.
Leader: God won’t let you stumble,
your Guardian God won’t fall asleep.
People: Not on your life!
Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep.
Leader: God’s your Guardian,
right at your side to protect you—
Shielding you from sunstroke,
sheltering you from moonstroke.
Leader & People: God guards you from every evil…
Guards your very life…
Guards you when you leave and when you return,
God guards you now and guards you always. Psalm 121 “A Pilgrim Song” The Message translation
*HYMN: “To You, O God, All Creatures Sing” NCH #17(v.1-4)
*PRAYER OF INVOCATION: Christiane Alsop
Loving God, you bid us come, and so we come from the streets and
from the alleys. We come from the deserts and from the hills. We
come from the ravages of poverty and from the palaces of privilege.
We come running, limping, carried. We come.
In our weariness and in our anxiety we dream of a new creation.
We know the things that make for peace, and we struggle to give
them wings. Hungering for your Spirit, we come to sing your song
and speak your name.
Help us to know that your loving embrace is as wide as we can
measure. Your heart is as broad as we can hope. Your love is as
deep and as forever as we can desire. In this holy place and in this
sacred moment make us anew, O Blessed One, that we can praise
with joy and gratitude the miracle of all you have given and
continue to give through your Son Jesus, our friend and our guide.
Amen
*THE LORD'S PRAYER: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we
forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.
*GLORIA PATRI: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is
now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
SCRIPTURE READING: Galatians 6:1-18 The Message translation
Todd McIlroy
ANTHEM: “The Lord is my shepherd”
John Rutter (b. 1945)
Susan Burnett-Halling, oboe
The Lord is my shepherd;
therefore can I lack nothing.
He shall feed me in a green pasture,
and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort.
He shall convert my soul,
and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness,
for his Name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For thou art with me:
Thy rod and thy staff comfort me:
Thou shalt prepare a table before me
against them that trouble me:
thou hast anointed my head with oil
and my cup shall be full.
But thy loving-kindness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever: Psalm 23
MORNING PRAYER Rev. Tom Bentley

An old Jewish Legend: After God created humankind, God asked the
angels what they thought of the world. “Only one thing is lacking,” the
angels said, “It is the sound of praise to the Creator.” So … “God
created music, the voice of birds, the whispering wind, the murmuring
ocean, and planted melody in people’s hearts.”
We wish to thank the following for offering music in praising God:
The Northshore Brass - - Jean Pocius Dorismond, first trumpet, David
Douglas, second trumpet, Janet Harrison, French horn, Daniel Walker,
trombone, and Justin Callahan, trombone.
Jeffery Ward, trombone and Joshua Ward, trumpet, father and son, for
their assisting in playing brass this morning.
Our oboist, Susan Burnett-Halling, our organist, Donald Dunn, and the
incomparable First Parish Church, Congregational Choir for their
renditions of John Rutter’s “A Claire Benediction” and “The Lord is my
shepherd”.
Thank You!
