AgreementIncludesNewFireStation,CommunitySupportandExpansionofTachiPalaceCasinoResort

LEMOORE,CA–(November13,2020)–Today,theSantaRosaRancheriaTachi-YokutTribeandKingsCountysignedanIntergovernmentalAgreementtoallowforconstructionofanewfirestation,publicsafetyandeconomicdevelopmentsupportfortheCounty,andexpansionofTachiPalaceCasinoResort.

Thisnewagreementtakestheplaceoftherecentlyexpired2003MemorandumofUnderstanding(MOU)whichprovidedthattheTribewouldcontributefundingtotheCountyfor(1)theimprovementandmaintenanceofCounty-maintainedroads,(2)theprovisionofCountylawenforcementservices,and(3)theprovisionofCountyfireprotectionandemergencyservices.

“TheCountyandtheTribe’sagreementismutuallybeneficialandweareproudofourcooperativerelationship,”saidDougVerboon,KingsCountyBoardofSupervisorsChairman.“Fromsupportinglawenforcementandfireservices,toimprovingtheenvironment,andtheeconomicdevelopmentthatsupportsourarea,webelievethisagreementisawin-winforKingsCountyandtheTribe.”

Underthenewagreement,theTribeshallconstructanewfirestationandtrainingfacility,onthenortheastcornerof17thStreetandKansas,tobenamedKingsCountyFireDepartment.TheTribewillfundthestationandassistwithstaffingcosts,apparatusandequipmentpurchasingandmaintenance,plusutilitycosts.

Inaddition,theTribewillprovideassistancetotheCountyforlawenforcement,fireprotection,emergencyservices,wastewatertreatment,solidwastedisposal,andotherprogramsthatcontributetothebettermentofthecommunity.TheTribealsoagreestowidenthestreetandaddturnlanestoimprovetheintersectionofJerseyAvenueandtheCasinoentrancetoaccommodateforincreasedtraffic,inaccordancewithCountyrequirements.

Undertheagreement,theTribeagreestoimplementadditionalmeasurestoreducetrafficvolumesinandaroundtheprojectsuchasencouragingtheuseofmasstransportationforCasinopatrons,increasingemployeecarpooling/ride-sharingandexploringthefuturepossibilityofaregionalbusstop.

“OurTribeandKingsCountywillcontinuetohaveacooperativepartnershipbasedonmutualrespectandsupportiveactions,”saidLeoSisco,ChairmanofSantaRosaRancheriaTachi-YokutTribe.“WeareexcitedtoannouncetheexpansionoftheTachiPalaceproperty,alongwithanewfirestationandsupportoftheCounty’spublicserviceinitiatives.”

Alsounderthenewagreement,theTribeintendstopursuethefollowingeconomicdevelopmentprojects:

• A35,000sq.ft.,2,500-seatevent/bingocenter:• Anew120,000sq.ft.,200-roomhoteltower;• YokutGas:Add12gaspumpsand12dieselpumpstoexistingstation;a6,000sq.ft.convenience

storeexpansion;60ClassIImachines;anda3-carwashbay;• RancheriaHousing:Add200additionalhomes;

• ConferenceCenter:Adda20,000sq.ft.conferencecenterattachedtotheTachiPalaceHotel;• WaterandWastewaterTreatmentFacilities:Implementa35-45%expansioninwaterflow,

capacity,andtreatment.

Plus,expansionofTachiPalaceCasinoResortisoutlinedtoincludethefollowing:

• IncreasethecurrentfootprintoftheTachiPalaceCasinotoincludeadditionalgamingspace,a150-seatfoodandbeverageareaincludingasportsbar,andanewentrance;

• Add1,000additionalClassIIIgamingdevices;• Add1,200asphaltguestparkinglot.

ThenewagreementwillcommenceDecember1stafterfinalapprovalbyTachi-Yokutmembers.TheagreementrunsconcurrentlywiththetermoftheTribe’sStateCompact,oruntiltheprojectceasestobeopentothepublicandtheTribeceasestoconductClassIIIGaming,whicheveroccursearlier.
