how are we graded?
• That’s in the syllabus.
what kind of tests do we take?
• Essays, mostly. • Hi, welcome to an ENGLISH class! :)• we might take others.
I heard we get to make a movie in this class. Do we get to pick who is
in our group?
• Yes, but the group project is not until next quarter. We’ll discuss the group selection process then.
If I’m absent, can I just rent the film we’re watching in
class?
• Not a bad idea, but try not to be absent.• You are responsible for making up any
missed films we watch in class ASAP.
If I’m absent, you’ll tell me what I missed,
right?
• Only AFTER you’ve checked edmodo.com and the class calendar.
what’s the makeup policy?
• Three school days. No exceptions. You arrange the time with me.
do you allow extra credit?
• No, so don’t ask.
is it possible to be exempt from the
final?
• Only if you can maintain a 95 or better average by the end of the second quarter.
can we choose our own seats?
• as long as you don’t put me in a position to have to move you... :)
do we need to bring books every day?
• Notebook, yes. The textbook generally stays here. Bring your own pens. Don’t come empty-handed.
when are we going to start watching the first
movie?
• Soon. We have to get through some intro lessons first.
is it ok for me to sleep/eat food/text message/catch up on homework during class while we watch the movie?
• I know you probably wouldn’t actually ask me this, but the answer is absolutely NOT!!!
is it ok for me to whine, complain about what we’re watching, act like a clown, slack off, cut
class, show up late, come to class empty-handed, or annoy you or my fellow classmates?
• You wouldn’t ask me this either. But in case you did, I’d probably say no.
are you always this mean?
• No. I actually have a great sense of humor. :) But if having high expectations of you is ‘mean’, then yes...I am very, very mean.
