Second Sunday of Lent
Beloved Church Family,
This is the second week of Lent commonly known as
“Transfiguration Sunday”. In today’s Gospel, on the
high mountain, Jesus took with Him Peter, James and
John where He transfigured. As we continue with
our Lenten observances by focusing on prayer, fast-
ing and alms giving, we look forward to having our
own transfigured experience with Jesus. Throughout
this Lenten Season, at times we’re going to find our-
selves in places that can be considered as mountains
in our lives. Like Peter, James and John, we want to
contemplate the presence of Jesus and want Him to
stay with us.
. Throughout these 40 days, we are going to continue
to focus both individually and collectively on taking
up our Cross with Jesus by focusing on Prayer, Alms
Giving and Fasting. During this Lenten Season, we
will be challenged by being exposed to different
types of temptations. That is why we are going to
need Him to be with us throughout this Lenten Sea-
son.
Again, let us continue pray that this Lenten Season
may be a time of spiritual growth individually and
collectively as a parish, a time of renewal, and a time
of maturity when it comes to our relationship with
Jesus as we take the journey with Him on the road to
Calvary. I would like to continue remind you that the
Church has given us many tools and opportunities to
carry out our Lenten observances: constant prayers,
daily adorations and meditations, Scripture readings,
daily and weekend participation in the celebration of
the Eucharist, the Way of The Cross, Novenas, and
other spiritual activities.
May you have a week filled with blessings and may
you have a chance to catch the passing of Jesus as He
moves toward your way— Be on alert and watchful
because, Jesus was the same yesterday, today and
tomorrow.
Very Rev. Oswald P. Pierre-Jules, Jr., S.S. J., V.F
Meet The Staff of Our Church Family
Irene Young
Choir & Music Director
Irene has been the music director of the parish for 43
years, and she has been doing a remarkable job. As a
parish, we are grateful to her along with her loving
husband, Steven Young, Sr. for being so devoted and
committed to the parish. Irene works very well with
both youths and adults. Indeed, she is a gifted and tal-
ented woman, and we are blessed and fortunate to have
her as our music director. As of today, Irene is leading
the Ambassadors for Christ, the Adult Gospel and the
Youth Choirs. Moreover, she is one of the youth lead-
ers of the parish. We express our heartfelt gratitude to
both Irene and Steven for all that they have done and
continue to do at St. David Church.
