Case Study Methodology: Students will be supplied with a case and will be asked to discuss. Identification of core problem, Pertinent Factors, Generation of alternatives, Evaluation of Alternatives, Identification of best alternative, Conclusion will be the focal areas in the Case Study Discussion.

Product Demo Learning: Students will be asked to bring a product of their choice and when the concepts are explained to them they will be asked to correlate the concepts with the products and discuss the learning. Then the students will be asked to present the outcomes.

Field Learning: Students are instructed to correlate the concepts learned in the class room in the market place. Personally the students will be visiting the market interact with the real time management executives and the validate their conceptual understanding.

MBWA: Management By Walking Around - The students will be asked to just explore the events happening around pertaining to the business and management. They learn different strategies adopted by various brands and marketers just by observing the Products, Advertisements, Exhibitions, road show campaigns etc…….

Experiential Learning: The students themselves involve in the managerial decision making situations. Through internships and part time employment with marketers they adopt, practice and apply the concepts learnt in the class room. Through this, they get the real time experience and validate their learning.
6. Subject Quiz: Quiz Programme is conducted for the students. Concepts taught in the class room and real time examples will be the core questions in the Subject Quiz. This to encourage the students to have updated information their subjects.

Group Discussions : The students will be given with real time managerial issues or sometimes with the subject content and will be asked to discuss the issue. Different dimensions of the given subject will be discussed and the outcome will be a big learning for the students.

Power Point Lecturing : For each and every concepts in the syllabus a Power Point Presentation is prepared and will be presented to the students. This PPT enables the students to have easy understanding of the concepts with colorful and pictorial presentation.

A. Programme organized for the NSS Volunteers
1. Organized special competitions for Periyar university department students – Essay
Competition “Role of youth in HIV / AIDS prevention”; Drawing Competition “Youth
Safety”; Lyrics Competition “AIDS Awareness” – 68 students participated. Inaugurated by
the Former vice chancellor Dr.M.Tangaraju and the Prizes were distributed by the former
Registrar Dr.S.Gunasekaran. Date : 28.04.2009 Venue : Senate Hall.
2. Organised a special initiative programme on “CLEAN & GREEN” – Special Campus cleaning
programme on 25.08.2009, inaugurated and presided by Vice Chancellor and the registrar.
This initiation is made to look the campus clean and green.
3. A special leadership training programme was organized to the NSS volunteers of Unit 1 on
“CAREER PLANNING & SUCCESS STRATEGIES” on 19th January 2010.
4. Organised a Special Leadership training & Career orientation programme in the event of
celebrating “NSS DAY”– Sep -24” (2010) in the title – “Corporate Social Responsibility”
– delivered by Dr.Devanand, Medical Director, Agarwal Eye Hospital, Salem, in which 87 NSS
Volunteers have participated and benefited.
5. On 01.11.2010, 13 NSS volunteers were made to participate in the event of Tree Plantation
at the “MOOKANERI” (Near Chinna thirupathi, Salem) organized by the Salem people’s club,
Salem.
6. On 03.11.2010 a special leadership & team building training programme was organized
for the NSS volunteers of Unit 1 – Presided by Dr.A.Muthusamy, NSS Coordinator, Periyar
University.
7. 56 NSS volunteers of NSS Unit 1 have participated in the Blood Donation camp jointly
organized by Periyar University and Rotary club of Salem at Periyar university on
19.11.2010.
NSS PROGRAMME OFFICER
8. A leadership training- cum- Motivational workshop was organized on the Title “THALAIVA
VAA” on 06.01.2011 for the NSS volunteers of Unit 1 – Workshop was conducted by
Mr.N.Zahir Hussain, HR Trainer, Erode.
9. On 25.01.2011- Right to Vote – Awareness rally was organized by the Collectorate, Salem
in which 12 NSS volunteers of Unit 1 were made to participate and create awareness among
the general public of Salem.
10. To appreciate the selfless service rendered by the NSS Unit 1 volunteer Mr. L.Shankar Raja,
Tamilnadu Directorate of Collegiate study has awarded him “BEST NSS VOLUNTEER
AWARD” and Cash prize of Rs.2000/-.
11. Initiated a special teachers’ drive programme in creating awareness about values and ethics
in upbringing younger generation. 125 copies of “Pasamulla Puthiya Thalaimuraiku”
book were given to all faculty members of Periyar University at free of cost in the fond
memory of Swami Vivekanandha. July 4th 2011.
12. World population day was celebrated on July 11 2011. A special lecture was given to the
NSS volunteers of Unit 1 on the title “THE WORLD OF 7 BILLION”. Causes and
consequences of population were discussed among the NSS volunteers. Information bulletin
was circulated among the departments of Periyar University.
13. A special motivational lecture was given to the NSS Volunteers on 20.07.2011 in the title
“DARE TO DREAM” where the importance of goal setting, self management and time
management was made aware to the 100 NSS volunteers who participated in the
programme.
14. 68 NSS volunteers of Unit 1 have participated in the Independence Day celebration held
at Periyar University on 15th august 2001.
15. Sadhbawana Diwas was observed by the NSS Unit 1 volunteers on 19th August 2011.
Students have taken special pledge on that day. 100 volunteers have participated.
Dr.J.Senthilvelmurugan, Assistant Professor has delivered a special address.
16. A special Leadership Training Programme was conducted in the title “BORN TO LEAD” –
conducted by Jc. Allaudin, HR trainer, Urbane Academy, Salem – 11 on 25th August 2011
where 105 NSS volunteers have participated and benefited.
17. 8 Students were involved in the assembly election duties at six different places.
B. Special Activities in the University Campus
18. Actively participated and carried out responsibilities given in the “SEMMOZHI THAIMOZHI
PERANI” (RALLY) HELD AT KRISHNAGIRI & NAMAKKAL organized by Periyar university,
Salem.
19. Actively participated and carried out responsibilities given in the “Semmozhi Sudarottam”
(Marathan) held at the Salem region (Attur – Salem).
20. NSS Unit 1 has rendered its services in the three day Science day exhibition held at
Periyar University (Campus Cleaning, Beautification, Water supply, Security, Stall assistance,
Food counter assistance, Auditorium Hall Arrangement etc..)
21. 18 NSS volunteers of Unit 1 were actively involved in the celebration of “SAMATHUVA
PONGAL” organized by Periyar University in the month of January 2010.
22. Participated in the University level NSS advisory committee meeting organized by the NSS
COORDINATOR, Periyar University and headed by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor.
23. Actively carried out campus cleaning and Beautification responsibilities assigned to me
during the CONVOCATIONS held at Periyar University for Past THREE years (2009, 2010 & 2011).
24. Actively participated in the CAMPUS TREE PLANTATION FUNCTION organized by Periyar
University in which trees were planted by the former agriculture Minister, Former Member
of Legislative Assembly, former Vice Chancellor and Former Registrar.
25. Actively participated in the Mupperum Vizha held at Periyar university. NSS volunteers
were involved in the Campus cleaning, Hall Arrangement, Security, Food distribution etc.
C. Special Activities in the University Campus
1. Organised First TEN DAYS NSS special camp at Kottakoundampatti and
Anaikoundampatti Villages - Inaugurated by The former Vice-Chancellor Dr.M.Thangaraju
and the former Registrar Dr.S.Gunasekaran and presided by Dr.T.Periyasamy, The former
NSS Coordinator of Periyar University. Road Cleaning, Drainage Construction for School, Eye
camp, Tree Plantation, Road safety Awareness programme, Temple campus cleaning – All
these activities were carried out in the special camp.
2. Organised Second SEVEN DAYS NSS special camp at YERCAUD Villages (Murugan
Nagra, Athiyur, Asambur, Murugan Nagar, MGR Nagra, Kovilmedu, Mundagambadi) –
Inaugurated by The former Vice-Chancellor Dr.M.Thangaraju and the former Registrar
Dr.S.Gunasekaran and presided by Dr.A.Muthusamy, The NSS Coordinator of Periyar
University. AIDS Awareness, Eye camp, Medical Camp, Fuel Consumption Awareness, Mega
Medical Camp, School campus cleaning, Church cleaning, Village Cleaning, Awareness on
literacy and government schemes – Road show, Nutritious Food Habits- All these activities
were carried out in the camp.
3. Organised Third SEVEN DAYS NSS special camp at SANGEETHAPATTI village, Omalur
Block, Salem District (Adopted Village of Periyar University) between 08.03.2011 and
14.03.2011. Inaugurated by the Syndicate Member Dr.Periyasamy and presided by the NSS
Coordinator Dr.A.Muthusamy. Healthy Food habits, Veternary Camp, School Campus
Cleaning, Temple campus cleaning, Road repairing, Fuel consumption awareness creation,
AIDS awareness programme, Environment protection awareness, Leadership Training
programme – all these activities were carried out.
4. Organised Fourth SEVEN DAYS NSS special camp at SANGEETHAPATTI Village, Omalur
Block, Salem District (Adopted Village of Periyar University) between 16.03.2012 and
22.03.2012. Inaugurated by the Periyar University Vice Chancellor Dr.K.Muthuchelian.
School Campus Cleaning, Road Repairing, AIDS awareness, Eye Camp, Veterinary Medical
Camp, Plastic Awareness Camp, Temple Campus Cleaning, Healthy Food Awareness camp,
Leadership Training Programmes were carried out in the Special Camp.
D. Durable Assets Created
1. During the NSS Special Camp 1, NSS Unit volunteers have built up a drainage cover before the Primary School in the Kottakoundampatti village.
2. Further the students have digged the pits and planted trees for shadow and fruits. The
activities were still appreciated by the local public. 3. NSS unit 1 students and NSS Unit 2 Students have jointly repaired the road during the NSS
special camp 3 in the Sangeethapatti village.

3. Organised a one day awareness programme on “EYE CARE” – in collaboration with
Computer Science department of Periyar University on 09.11.2009 – Chief Guest –

4. A special TB awareness film was played for the student volunteers of NSS Unit 1 on 25th
January 2010 – 100 volunteers have participated. (Casting – Vivek, Sachu..) – PRIMS

5. A special awareness programme was conducted to the NSS volunteers on Anti Ragging.
“ANTI RAGGING VIDEO CDs” were given FREE to all the departments of University.

University during January 19-21, 2011 Organised by Youth Red Cross Periyar University,
Salem.
3. Participated in the one day trainers training programme for RRC Programme officers
on Celebrating Life Module conducted at Periyar university in association with the
Tamilnadu State Aids Control Society on 18th March 2011.

1. Organised a Three Days Soft skills training workshop, presided by then Vice-Chancellor
Prof.Dr.T.Balakrishnan on 7th, 8th & 9th March 2007. ‘Physiological basis of communication’,
‘Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication’, ‘Managerial Communication’, ‘Goal Setting and
Time Management’, ‘GD Skills’, ‘Interview Skills’, ‘Entrepreneurial Skills’ were trained in the
workshop.
2. Organised “VICTUS’ 07” – one day workshop on HR Skills & Competencies on 12.09.2007.
‘Essential Skills & Attitudes for HR Professionals’, ‘HR Career Planning & Success Strategies’,
‘HR Practices – What they don’t teach in B-Schools’, ‘Situational Role Play’ sessions were
conducted in the workshop for the students.
3. Organised “Explora’ 08” – Three Days workshop on Managerial Competencies on
5th, 6th & 7th March 2008.
4. Organised a Special Lecture on “Thirukuralum Melanmaiyum” on 24.02.2009 I which
Former Vice Chancellor Dr.M.Thangaraju deliberated on the management concepts
presented in the Thirukkural.
5. Organised a Three Day workshop on Students’ Soft Skills Development on 4th, 5th & 6th
March 2009. ‘Survival of the Excellence’, ‘PMA for Successful Career’, ‘Good Manners and
Etiquette’, ‘Employability Skills’, ‘Motivation through Humour’, sessions were held for the
students in the workshop.

Soft Skills Training Programme” in which 5 Entrepreneurs have interacted with the
Management students between 10.09.2012 – 14.09.2012.

7. Organised a Two day Skill Training Programme to the students of PRIMS on various skills on
28.01.2013 and 29.01.2013. Thiru.Nandhakumar Zone Trainer, Ms.Manju Anand National
Trainer, Thiru. Mohan Kumar Zone Trainer, Dr.Saravanakumar, Zone Trainer were the
trainers who groomed the students on those skills.

Programme on “Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme (UYEGP)” OF
Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai at Periyar
University between 12.12.2013 – 19.12.2013 for selected unemployed youth of Salem
District. Importance of Entrepreneurship, Characteristics of a successful entrepreneur,
Marketing of the products, accounts book keeping, working capital management, legal and
tax procedures, soft skills were the core contents of the programme. 30 Beneficiaries were
participated. 24 Technical sessions were conducted with professional trainers and field
experts. An Industrial Visit was also organized for the Participants.

Had served as Nodal Officer to conduct and coordinate Four Weeks Entrepreneurship
Development Programme for Graduates (EDP) of Entrepreneurship Development Institute,
Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai at Periyar University from 11.12.2013 to 04.01.2014
for selected Graduates and Diploma Holders of Salem District. 25 graduates were benefited
out of this programme.
3. Nodal Officer - Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme (UYEGP)
Has been appointed as Nodal Officer to organize and coordinate Seven Days Training
