How did you use New Media Technologies in the
Construction and Research, Planning and Evaluation
stages?
There are many different types technologies in which helped us throughout this production. They are vital elements to our success and completion of our music video, and also the process of presenting our progress on our Blogs.
In this presentation I will explore these different technologies and explain how they were helpful.
Overview
Final Cut Express was a vital piece of technology that we needed during Post-production.
This new software was introduced to us at the start of the year, and needed to quickly adapt to it.
We made a short video for the Blog called ‘Talent Factor’ which allowed us to get to grips with the new software.
We then moved on to editing footage filmed for the actual music video.

This box (Left) is known as the browser and is where you keep all the footage you have shot, also sound clips, and images you want to put on your timeline.
This piece of software came with the Final cut package.
It allowed to make titles for our music video. We spent time producing a title, however it would
not fit into the video we had created.

Youtube has been a vital part of the project in all stages. It has helped us: PLAN: Gives us background information on music video’s
from past to present. E.g. http://www.youtube.com/music
RESEARCH: Allows us to view a range of different music video’s. E.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0mH5epMSp4
CONSTRUCTION: We could put our music video onto Youtube for people to view.
EVALUATION: We can upload interviews filmed from audience feedback.
Youtube
This was help when creating such elements as;
Moodboard. Digipak Template. Images to illustrate the Blog posts. Search engine for examples of music
videos.
Used Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and Bebo to promote the video.
Good way to gain audience feedback.
Social Networks
Social Networks
Here is a screen grab of our video on ‘Facebook’.This was a good way of promoting the video, and I used this as an example to show social networking sites such as ‘Facebook’ have been very helpful in the whole production process.
We used both a still camera and video camera to help produce our music video.
Still cameras were useful to showing locations used and showing our progress.
The video camera was the most vital piece of technology we used.
We used the ‘Cannon HDV 1080i’ video camera.

From this brief presentation it is clear that there are many technologies used to help us in all stages of production.
Even something as simple as ‘Microsoft Powerpoint’ has been of use when evaluating the task.
