Lab Report• Objective• Materials List

– All materials used in the experiment (even if used only once)

• Procedures• Results

– Data table and observations

• Discussion– Explain the results – What happened for you

to get these results? How? Why?

Objective

• During this lab you will investigate the concepts of osmosis and diffusion using eggs

Page 5: EGG LAB. Lab Report Objective Materials List –All materials used in the experiment (even if used only once) Procedures Results –Data table and observations.

Procedures – Day 1

• Obtain one egg per group

• Measure and record the circumference of the egg as well as its mass

Page 6: EGG LAB. Lab Report Objective Materials List –All materials used in the experiment (even if used only once) Procedures Results –Data table and observations.

Procedures – Day 1

• Place the egg in a beaker. Pour in enough white vinegar to completely cover the egg.

• Record your observations

Procedures – Day 1

• Store the eggs in the refrigerator for 24 hours

Procedures – Day 2

• Obtain egg in beaker from refrigerator

• Record observations

• Return the egg in beaker to refrigerator for another 24 hours.

Procedures – Day 3

• Carefully remove the egg from the beaker and record it measurements (circumference and mass).

• Write an explanation for your observations using the correct vocabulary

Procedures – Day 3

• Determine the mass and circumference of the egg and record it in the data table.

• Pour 150 ml of corn syrup into its own beaker.

• Add the egg and store in refrigerator for 24 hours.

Procedures – Day 4

• Remove the egg from the beaker and record your observations.

• Record the mass of the egg.

• Use a toothpick to pop the egg membrane and record your observations.

• Write an explanation of your observations using the correct vocabulary.
