ON THE
GHOST 50
EAST HALF
ELLIOTT TOWNSHIP
LARDER LAKE MINING DIVISION
INTRODUCTION
The claim group consists of 46 unpatented mining claims of which 21 are included in this report.
In 1993 a north-south baseline was established and the west side of the grid was completed. August 1996, the east side of the grid was completed. Due to the heavy growth of alder and poplar in the timbered areas, the baseline and picket lines had to be re-cut to tie-line 5,300 east. The picket lines were con tinued to the Tannahill Township line. The picket line spacing is four hundred feet and the stations were established every one hundred feet along the grid lines. The line cutting was comple ted by A J Perron Gold Corp. The magnetometer survey was perfor med by Michael Burns and the electromagnetic survey was performed by Wendy K. Weller.
All drafting and contouring was done by Wendy K. Weller. The report was written by Wendy K. Weller.
Ownership of the aformentioned unpatented mining claims has been attested to 559505 Ontario Ltd., 103 Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, Ontario P2N IA9, and was not independently ascer tained by the writer.
LOCATION AND ACCESS
The property is reached from Kirkland Lake via Highway 11B to Highway 672. The property is approximately 49 kilometers north-east of Kirkland Lake. (See Figures la) and Ib).

TOPOGRAPHY
The map area is partly covered by boulder beds beneath thin layers of moss and soil (in claims L-858876, L-858865, L-858862, L-858861, L-858858, L-858857) to sand, gravel and clay in the re maining claims.
The vegetation throughout the 21 claims ranges from wet pine, spruce boggs in the south end of the survey, to open timbe red area with thick growth of alder and swamp grass. In the northern section of the survey mix bush of pine, alder and birch crosses all of these claims.
There are two small beaver ponds, the creeks feeding these ponds run in the direction of north/south.
The entire timbered area has been replanted with jack pine in recent years.
The main access roads run east through claim L-858865, L-858862, L-858861, L-858858, L-858857. Throughout the claims in this survey, timber jack trails criss cross the property. On most of these trails small drainage creeks have formed, with heavy growth of alder, grass and poplar.
GENERAL GEOLOGY
Elliott Township is located within the northern flank of the Blake River Synclinorium (see plan of Geological Setting, page 2a).
The rock suites preserved in the complex fold belong to the Archean, Abitibi Subprovince of the Superior Province of the Canadian Shield. They are intruded by a variety of related stocks, sills and dykes ranging between ultramafic and felsic compositions. Later Precambrian dykes of diabasic composition and texture usually structures (Jensen, 1975, 1978). It is thought that the faults and other structures of regional extent have been intermitently active since the inception of the Abitibi Plate.

The synclinorium is an east-west trending metavolcanic and metasedimentary sequence which is bounded on the north by the Destor- Porcupine Fault and to the south by the Kirkland Lake-Larder Lake Break. The majority of the world class gold deposits of northeastern Ontario are associated with either one or the other of the structures.
The northwest to north to northeast trending structures which traverse the synclinorium may be related to gold deposition. Many of the known kimberlite occurrences are associated with one of the most prominent north trending structures, the Canyon-Esker Lakes Fault.
The Ghost-50 claims lie across the contact between the Kinojevis and Blake River Groups. Rocks of the Kinojevis (vole) Group contain sequences of iron-rich tholeiites, and stratigraphic trends are distinguished by variations in magnetic susceptibility. Rocks forming the Blake River Group are magnesium rich and show little variation in magnetism. Dykes and stocks which have magnetic expression are evident throughout the Blake River Group but are generally camouflaged within the Kinojevis Group.
The older Kinojevis rocks occur along the northern flank, and the Blake River sequences underlie the central portion of the synclinorium. (See Table l - Table of Lithologic Units for the Thackeray, Elliott, Tannahill, and Dokis Townships).
INSTRUMENTATION
Magnetometer Survey:
This system uses a backward motion of spinning protons of a hydrogen atom withim a fluid of hydrogen and carbon. These spinning magnetic protons are caused to have two opposite poles by applying a magnetic field using a current within a coil of wire. When the current is stopped, the protons precess about the earth's magnetic field and in turn generate a small current in the wire. This frequency of precession is proportional to the earth's total magnetic field.
This instrument is read directly in gammas which is the absolute value of the earth's total field for that station.
Electromagnetic Survey:
The VLF'-'EM method uses as a source, one of the main submarine communications transmitters in the 15 to 25 kHz band found throughout the world. These submarine communication radio waves travel in a single mode parallel to the surface of the earth along the earth-air surface.

ground, the magnetic field component of this radio or surface wave is horizontal and perpendicular to it's direction of travel.
VLF instruments are capable of picking up these structu res that change the direction of the waves by measuring the tilt angle of the major axis of the polarization ellipse. This is il lustrated by the tilt angle being zero on flat ground, but when a conductor is present the tilt angle will acquire a finite value. The direction of tilt indicates the direction of the conductor. Calculations of such parameters as depth, depth extent, dip and width of the conductor is very minimal.
The VLF easily illustrates the location of the upper limit of dipping structures which can be seen or plotted as VLF profiles as areas of greatest change in tilt angle per unit of distance.
The instrument used for this EM survey was a Geonics VLF-EM16 unit. The sensitivity of this unit is - W for the in- phase and - 1& for the quadrature. The operating frequency for the EM16 is from 15-25 kHz and the station selection is made by plug-in units.
For the purpose of this EM survey the station used was Annap.olis, Maryland, which has a, frequency Qf 24,8 kHz,
All the readings were taken facing north at 100 footintervals and the topography wa.s noted for future use in theinterpretation of the EM results.
OBSERVATIONS
i) MagnetometerjSurvey:
The field data is presented on Map 5G7967mag. The map is drawn at a scale of one inch td four hundred feet.
The magnetic data is illustrated as isomagnetic contours, contour interval 50 to 100 gammas, on a map of corrected magnetic values recorded at each station.
The magnetic trend is in a east to northeast direction. The magnetic relief ranges from 58016 to 59002 gammas. In 1993, Mr. R. K. Germundson mapped the area to be in the Blake River Group.
The west half of the group has a large high magnetic band which runs northeast through the grid. The topography of the area is flat to south sloping hills.
-5-
The east half of the group a large low magnetic band runs northeast through the grid. The topography of the area is flat wet pine bog and and beaver ponds.
ii) Electromagnetic Survey:
The field data is presented on the map 56/96/vlf. The map is drawn at a scale of one inch to four hundred feet.
In the survey four distinctive anomalies were found.
1) Crosses picket line PL28S 925E to PL40S 1025S. The topography of the area is flat, wet with thick alder and poplar growth. In 1993, R. K. Germundson states there is a geological contact crossing the above picket lines in this area. The contact is mapped in the Blake River Group. The outcrop along this con tact is mapped as pillowed dacite, andesite.
2) Crosses picket line 28S 22E to PL52S 2550E. The topo graphy of the area is flat, pine bog, with two creeks. The contact crosses the center of the magnetic high band running northeast. Quadrature is positive.
3) Crosses picket line 16S 33E to PL28S 4050E. The topo graphy of the area is flat, wet pine bog. Quadrature is positive.
4) Crosses picket line 8S 8825E to PL12S 9490E. The topo graphy of the area is flat, wet pine bog to open alder area. The quadrature is positive.
OBSERVATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS
The magnetic relief in the survey was low this usually indicates little or no change in the rock type.
The electromagnetic survey showed three distinctive contacts. The outcrop showings in this area has been mapped in the Blake River Group as pillowed dacite, andesite. The O.G.S. Report 165, Geology of Thackeray, Elliott, Tannahill and Dokis Townships by L. S. Jensen states there are two northwest faults in this area. VLF contacts A3 and A4 may be the result of these faults. There is no outcrop in the area to help define the origins of these contacts.

Presently all the data over the past few years is being looked at for a diamond drill program.
Respectfully submitted,
October 9, 1996 Miss Wendy K. Weller
