FACT 1:There’s no particular test to determine sleepiness in drivers as there is for intoxication, i.e., “Breathalyzer.”

FACT 2:Drowsiness or fatigue can play a major role in crashes involving alcohol. About one million of such crashes happen all over the globe.

FACT 3:The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) estimated that drowsy driving was solely responsible for 72, 000 crashes, 44, 000 injuries and 800 deaths in 2013. FACT 4:An estimated 1 in 25 drivers (aged 18+) has complained of drowsiness while driving in the previous 30 days.

FACT 5:People tend to fall asleep more on long and boring rural highways. However, those who live in urban areas are more likely to doze off while driving compared to people in rural areas.

FACT 6:Most crashes occur between 4 to 6 am, 12 to 2 am, and between 2 to 4pm.
