Let us be “distance-keeping” people with those we meet. Save the handshakes and hugs for a much later time. As persons, let us seek to keep a “perspective” on life. As a person with a faith perspective, it is important for me to remember that at all times and in all circumstances, I must up-hold “a life that shall endless be”. I believe in God who is light and love - that shines in the darkness and the darkness has not put it out. (John 1: 4). As we journey through this difficult time, let us keep our boundaries and hopes alive. Let us walk with resolution and a great hope! All our community churches will remain closed throughout the duration of this struggle. Without a doubt, love and hope must remain alive within our hearts. As for me, I will ever keep in mind the faith that boldly speaks of a resurrection life. When that great day arrives when we can again gather in our church as a faith com-munity, even though our calendar will tell us that Easter is long past, we will sing boldly and with great joy once again, the great hymn of our faith. “Jesus Christ is Risen Today:! Light and love will have tri-umphed over darkness!! On the journey with you -
(Rev.) Harvey Hurren Wawanesa/Brandon Hills Pastoral Charge
Greetings to the good people of Wawanesa, Nesbitt and Brandon Hills. Spring has come to our prairie land! The increased sunshine brings warmth and restores the hope for a new season of growth. As prairie people, we always re-joice in a new season of growth! Life takes on a new energy and renewed hope and an-ticipation. However, this spring of 2020 has a foreboding darkness about it that threatens life and takes away our springtime hopes. The devastating news of the “coronavirus” has spread across all nations and every con-tinent, bringing darkness and distress and death throughout our world. We are jolted out of our pleasant springtime thoughts as never before!! Talk is often heard of the devastating “Spanish-flu” epidemic of 1918-1919!! Some of us recently watched a video on the internet, featuring Bill Gates, a renowned financier with a very perceptive insight into world events. Five years ago, Gates pre-dicted a vast plague that would destroy much in society and bring great change. Now it is here!! Both the devastation of death and the darkness of despair!! What will be the outcome? How long will this deadly virus spread its fear and death across the nations? Here in our prairie communities of Wawanesa, Nesbitt and Brandon Hills, how do we react, and then be proactive in the control of this virus? We are “true” neighbours when we follow explicitly the restrictions and parameters that will help to bring this deadly virus under control. We are “front-line” people as much as anyone in this great struggle that lies ahead.
Easter Greetings for Our Journey

Wawanesa Community
Gardeners
Yellow & Orange for 2020 Welcome Spring! Even though the
Covid-19 Virus has us all self-isolating and
social-distancing these days, the
warmer weather we've enjoyed lately has us
looking out the windows and dreaming of
how our gardens will look this summer. Our
too-short outings to the grocery store and
Post Office, has our inner gardener smelling
the fresh air and imagining the flowers
blooming already.
2020 is Manitoba's 150th Birthday, so
we chose Gold as our color because it is of-
ten worn by Manitoba's athletes as they
compete in various sporting events. But we
realize that it is much easier to find flowers
in yellow and orange, and even a bit of
gold, if we work with Marigolds in all their
glorious, sunny varieties. They are so sim-
ple to plant and so cheerful to look at as we
walk past the Community Garden. I can
hardly wait to get out there and start garden-
ing. Now, if we could only get rid of this
awful Corona Virus within a month, two at
most!!!
May Kreklewich, for your Wawanesa

At the moment, things at the
Wawanesa United Church are very much on
hold because of the COVID-19 Pandemic
and I cannot see that changing in the near
future. Personally, I miss worshipping to-
gether, hearing the wonderful music we are
so fortunate to enjoy, and listening to the
meaningful messages from our spiritual lead-
ers. As a congregation, all we can do is keep
in touch with each other in a safe manner,
following the guidelines we have been given
so that no one feels alone while maintaining
physical distance. I encourage everyone to
continue praying for our congregation, our
community, our country and, indeed, our
whole world! In this time of turmoil and
stress, we are very fortunate to have access to
both Rev. Harvey (204-726-0625) and
Shirley McBurney (204-824-2369). Please
don't hesitate to call if there is a need. I am
also available at any time for a chat or to
lend an ear, just to listen (204-824-2457).
My final words of advice: Stay
home! Stay well! We'll be together again
when it is safe.

A month ago some of us were watch-ing the skies, checking the weather forecast to see if March was going to come in like a lion or a lamb. I remember the talk was that we had had a great winter and what was the spring going to be like? The Saturday before March 1st, was a beautiful warm day. I thought March would come in like a lamb, but Sunday morning it was windy and snow-ing and made for some challenging roads later in the day. How quickly our environ-ment changes. Similarly, our world has changed very quickly, unexpectedly. Our society has had to completely change their way of life. For the most part, we as Canadians have been thankful for our modern medical system. We would have said, we were prepared for any emergency. The size and speed of the spreading virus has caught us as Canadians and the world off guard. This has placed re-strictions, stress and hardships on many peo-ple. I doubt that many could remember a time when the whole world has been im-pacted by one event. This will be an event that will be remembered for a long time and most likely put into history books (or his-torical websites). The closures from airlines, schools, offices, and stores have affected all people to some degree. These have predomi-nantly been inconveniences. The scramble for medical supplies, long hours for medical staff, and many deaths that could not be at-tended by family, will be the hardships re-called. At times like these, during trials, strug-gles, hardships, is when people come to-gether and support each other. The compas-sionate character of people is displayed.
You do your best to support someone who has lost a family member. You make phone calls to check on your neighbour. Ask for help if you are unable to go out for grocer-ies. Have longer conversations over the phone. We are all sharing in this experience together.
That makes it so important for each of us to be encouraging with each other. Each of us can choose to complain or to see the good in the day. The Bible (NIV) uses the word discourage 18 times and 12 of those uses are in the context of, do not dis-courage. The word encourage appears 54 times. As Christians we have been charged with being encouraging, to lift up ones spir-its, to point to the beauty of the day. Tell more jokes. Give a simple gift just to bring a smile. Send (mail) a note, to thank a friend for being there for you. The seriousness of our situation doesn‟t change, but how we face it, will. For now, like most churches, our ser-vices and events have been cancelled. We continue to pray, sing worship songs, and read our Bibles in our homes. God has not changed. The sacrifice Jesus made on the cross will be acknowledged as Easter ap-proaches. We think our world has been turned upside down. Consider the disciples who witnessed their leader, their Rabbi, be-ing falsely accused, tortured and killed. God‟s son, the Messiah had been crucified. But, that wasn‟t the end of it. His resurrec-tion and words of encouragement to the dis-ciples, speak to us as believers - to never give up hope. Remember, our Hope is in the One who con-quered death. Hallelujah! He is Risen! He is Risen indeed!

Easter Reflection “Just as we are called to share in Our Lord‟s
Passion and Death, we are also called to
unite ourselves to His Resurrection during
Easter, for if “we have died with Him, we
shall also live with Him” (2 Timothy 2:11).

Dauphin COVID-19 Testing
Site Location Confirmed Designated site is MPI Service Centre
A new COVID-19 community test-
ing site location in Dauphin has opened at
the Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) ser-
vice centre. The hours of operation will be
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., seven days a week. You
must be referred to the site for testing.
These sites are not walk-up or drive-up
medical clinics. The site was reassessed
over the weekend to ensure it was an ap-
propriate location for a community testing
site. That reassessment found the site
meets, if not exceeds, existing criteria. As a
reminder, any person concerned about their
exposure to or risk of having COVID-19
should call Health Links–Info Santé at 1-

Community members are reminded to seek
factual, up-to-date information about the

In Loving Memory of My Husband
LLOYD CULLEN
September 21, 1938 - April 24, 2019
Thank you for your endless love
That helps me through each day,
And thank you for the memories
That never fade away.
You‟re the man I loved
And I was proud to be your Wife,
And everyday in some small way
I celebrate your life.
And though it‟s sad to think about
The way things were before
When we are re-united
It will be forevermore.
In Loving Memory
Dad
LLOYD CULLEN
He never looked for praises
He was never one to boast
He just went on quietly working
For the ones he loved the most.
His dreams were seldom spoken
His wants were very few
And most of the time his worries
Went unspoken too.
He was there… a firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold on to
In times of stress and strife.
A true friend we could turn to
When times were good or bad.
One of our greatest blessings,
The man that we called Dad.

18 Essentials!
This is a time of stress and fear over the
threat of illness that has blanketed the entire
world. All non-essential businesses, including
my own, have been asked to comply with
regulated standards, to bring physical contact
to a minimum as much as possible.
Ministry efforts in most, if not all,
churches have been closed for worship gather-
ings now, for the past couple of weeks. Many
worship centres have elected to carry on their
ministry by way of offering online services on
Sundays, which can be viewed by anyone and
everyone who chooses to do so. They feel it is
essential to keep connected in this way, and
still offer services in a safe manner.
Another essential service we can safely
offer on behalf of one another is that of
prayer. Meeting together, (such as the Com-
munity Prayer Evenings, generally hosted on
the last Thursday of the month) has been sus-
pended for the present. But… praying is al-
ways available… to anyone... anywhere... and
at any time.
1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18 “Rejoice ever-
more. Pray without ceasing. In every thing
give thanks: for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you”.
2 Chronicles 7: 14 “If my people, which
are called by my name, shall humble them-
selves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn
from their wicked ways; then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will
heal their land”.
Prayer is an essential service, and so are
God‟s promises to his people. Let us be dili-
gent, and hold one another up to the light that
still shines through the darkness. Our Easer
hope!
In Christ’s service, Shirley McBurney
