Bible Declaration
This is my Bible
It is the word of my God
I am what it says I am
I can do what it says that I can do
I will have everything that the Word of God says that I can
have
Tonight I will hear the Word
It will transform my heart
It will renew my mind
It’s being done by the ever-living,
Always loving, incorruptible
Indestructible, infallible
And inerrant Word of my God
So Word of God, live big in me today
And every day
In Jesus Name
Amen!

EMBRACE YOUR NEW IDENTITY IN CHRIST:
A. Having the right identity is critical to emotional and spiritual maturity.
II CORINTHIANS 5:16-21 (NLT) So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
B. What’s shaping your identity?
1. Identity – sense of self; who you are, self-image, self-worth, how you see yourself.
2. Shape from childhood.
3. People define themselves in different ways.
4. People identify with groups or clubs.
5. To be what God has called us to be we have got to find our identity in Christ.
C. Many people identify with their problems.
D. Israel could not enter the Promised Land on the identity they received from Egypt.
E. God often changes names to change the identity so that His people live at a new level.
F. Some allow the negatives of life to become their entire identity.
Gideon
G. How you see yourself is the most controlling factor in your life.

1. If you believe you can or can’t, you are right.
2. Doubting ourselves is doubting the God that created us and lives in us.
3. Self-doubts and negative self-image hinder God from doing His will through us.
H. Moses grew up as a king but almost died as a loser.
I. Our identity is largely shaped by our early environment.
J. The only way to be free from hurts, failures and negative images of the past is to die to them.
GALATIANS 2:20-21 (NKJV)
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for
me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then
Christ died in vain.”
K. We have got to learn to walk in our new identity by faith until we reach the maturity God
desires us to reach.
ROMANS 4:17 (NKJV)

1. Gideon shows us how to walk into a new identity.
JUDGES 6:11-18 (NKJV)
Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites. 12 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!” 13 Gideon said to Him, “O my lord,[a] if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” 14 Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” 15 So he said to Him, “O my Lord,[b] how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” 16 And the LORD said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.” 17 Then he said to Him, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me. 18 Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You and bring out my offering and set it before You.” And He said, “I will wait until you come back.”
2. Seven (7) steps Gideon went through to live as God saw Him:
i. He started giving
JUDGES 6:18, 26 (NKJV) 18 Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You and bring out my offering and set it before You.” And He said, “I will wait until you come back.” 26 and build an altar to the LORD your God on top of this rock in the proper arrangement, and take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the image which you shall cut down.”

ii. He rejected false teaching
JUDGES 6:25, 30 (NKJV)
Now it came to pass the same night that the LORD said to him, “Take your father’s young
bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father
has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it; 30 Then the men of the city said to
Joash, “Bring out your son, that he may die, because he has torn down the altar of Baal,
and because he has cut down the wooden image that was beside it.”
iii. He began to speak of his calling
JUDGES 6:34 (NKJV)
But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon; then he blew the trumpet, and the
Abiezrites gathered behind him.
iv. He sought God’s presence
JUDGES 6:36 (NKJV)
So Gideon said to God, “If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said—
v. He trusted God
JUDGES 7:7 (NKJV)
Then the LORD said to Gideon, “By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you,
and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, every man to his
place.”
vi. He believed what God said
JUDGES 7:13-15 (NKJV)
And when Gideon had come, there was a man telling a dream to his companion. He said, “I have had a dream: To my surprise, a loaf of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian; it came to a tent and struck it so that it fell and overturned, and the tent collapsed.” 14 Then his companion answered and said, “This is nothing else but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel! Into his hand God has delivered Midian and the whole camp.” 15 And so it was, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. He returned to the camp of Israel, and said, “Arise, for the LORD has delivered the camp of Midian into your hand.”
vii. He acted like a new person
JUDGES 7:15-19 (NKJV)
And so it was, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. He returned to the camp of Israel, and said, “Arise, for the LORD has

delivered the camp of Midian into your hand.” 16 Then he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet into every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and torches inside the pitchers. 17 And he said to them, “Look at me and do likewise; watch, and when I come to the edge of the camp you shall do as I do: 18 When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then you also blow the trumpets on every side of the whole camp, and say, ‘The sword of the LORD and of Gideon!’” 19 So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outpost of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just as they had posted the watch; and they blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers that were in their hands.
