MODERN ARCHITECTURE
odern architecture is characterized by simplification of form andcreation of ornament from the structure and theme of the building
Modern architecture as primarily driven by technological andengineering developments, and it is true that the availability ofnew building materials such as iron, steel, and glass.

By the 1920s the most important figures in Modernarchitecture had established their reputations. The big three are commonly recognizedAs Le Corbusier in France, andLudwig Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius in Germany
The most commonly used materials are glass for the facade, steel for exterior support, and concrete for the floors and
interior supports; floor plans were functional and logical.

Examples of Modern architecture in the 21st Centuryinclude:
One World Trade Center (2013) in New York City andTour First(2011), the tallest office building in the Parismetropolitan area.Emporis named Chicago'sModern Aqua Tower (2009) its skyscraper of the year.

Contemporary architecture is generallyspeaking the architecture being made at
The present time. The term contemporary architectureis also applied
to a range of styles of recently builtstructures and space which are
optimized for current use.

I Done my case study on SPIRAL SHELL HOUSE , located at deep in the woodsOf Karuizawa , Japan, where its double-elliptical, shell-likeshapes blend with its magnificent surroundings.
I have chosen this house because of its unique structure and concept behind it.
The structure is totally based on spiral , curves , caves , and shell .The concept of house is using shell as a structure and curved and spiral look.
House is situated middle of the forest or green area. It has green surroundings whichPresent a aesthetic look . White concrete and wood used as a structural material.
It is a double storey house and glass is also used for front and rear views.
I simply love how its large, spacious living areas easily flow with its unique, circulararchitecture design

Spiral shell villa
SPIRAL SHELL VILLA.. designed by Kotaro Ide (ARTechnic Architects) with cave structurethat constructed of wood and rocks. Its harmonizing with landscape and tree around it.A frame, a shape, made at a completely different place for a completely different purpose.
Within this shell shaped structure will one find floors constructed, wall separating spaces, and rooms furnished. This house will provide a comfortable environment.
The Shell made of mechanical system for .The instalment of the custom madefloor-heating system minimizes the use of heat energy for avoiding the trouble ofemptying drainage in cold regions. It was include air conditioning system and efficient inpreventing fire, absorbing sound, and insulating heat and moisture

Working with nature can be one of the mostchallenging things in constructing a non-urbanresidence. This spectacular spiralhouse byARTechnic ( Architect: Kotaro Ide / ARTechnic architects)
weaves and flows organically withinits forest setting but also stands out, a white concreteintrusion in its lush green surroundings. In short,it works in tension with the natural world, providing security for those within but alsovisual connection to the outside scenery.

HOUSE

Taking up the shape of nature, an amazingprivate villa was designed in the middle of the forest, surrounded by cavesand rocks. As the name implies, SHELL has theshell shape with an upgraded feature as awarm and cozy shelter in the wilderness.

The ‘Shell House’ takes on a j -shape which israised above the ground by 1400 mmresulting in the floating ’ masses. The villa’s
simple creating a balance betweenThe futuristic man-made structure and theenvironment which surrounds it.The entire project took more than 18 months
to realize and two and a halfyears to complete

A large shell shaped structure finds itself in the middle of
thewoods. It is hard to determine what exactly the structure is,andunlike the surrounding caves and rocks, it clearly is not apartof nature – nor is it a ruin. A frame, a shape, made at a
completely different place for a completely differentpurpose.Within this shell shaped structure will one find floorsconstructed, wall separating spaces, androoms furnished. The scenery conjures a SF film-likeimage,in which locals inhabit over an abandonedspacecraft. With time, trees start to grow encircling the
spacecraft,harmonizing it into the landscape…

TECHNICALLY SAYING
A frame a shape, made at a completely different place for acompletely different purpose. Within shaped structure will one
find floors constructed , wall separating spaces, and rooms furnished.
The regions’ low temperatures and high humidity level makes for a harsh climate. As a result, many houses that take on traditional structures are decaying .Is it in sync with nature?Perhaps .But the whole idea of comfort seems to be put
into question

The central control system enables all mechanical andelectrical equipments to be managed by three buttons. In addition, the biometrics
lockage and security system willreduce anxiety and stress over house safety management.
Assuming future interior and equipment maintenances(including the window sash)for continual use, the frame iscompletely separate. The building frame is assumed toassimilate with its surroundings with the passage of time.To provide efficiency during maintenance, the concrete wasexposed, finished with a penetrative sealer for concretes.
For the house to be actually used, the ultimateattention was paid to its comfort and performance level.

The plan was to build the villa around the big fir tree as thecenter of the site, with a row of pine trees as the main view .
Initially, it had planned to build a shell structure with three dimensionally curved surfaces, and the C shaped section
was to surround the fir tree and the plan of the buildingresembled the letter J In addition, certain parts were planned
to hold double volume space.so, the plan was revised down to a shell structure of two
dimensionally curved surfaces. The J shaped structure isconstructed by two different size oval cylindrical masses cutwith curves.
The straight part of J, a smaller mass connects to a curvedpart to J, a larger mass. The top of the oval shaped buildingwall thickens by 330mm and its width continuously
increases up to 730mm at both sides to meet the structuralrequirements.

The free-curved lines appear on the edge, and the threedimensionally curved surface with a twist partly appearson the cut surfaces . However the entire structure wascomposed by two dimensionally curved surfaces.
The floor is built 1400mm above the ground, with thelower half of the shell structureprotruding greatly towards the outside, supporting the
terrace of the same height.

Considering the often short and intermittent use of villas, the expanded hard urethane form has been installed to cover
60 mm of the interior wall of the oval cylinder, which willreduce thermal capacity.
Often the type of finish seen on the back of panels, it isefficient in preventing fire, absorbing sound, and insulatingheat and moisture.
By dividing the oval section with a flat floor, a bow shapedspace will appear on the bottom of the oval, which will
serve as a heat chamber and be filled with pipes.
Since the system first heats the plumbing space, and as aresult, the antifreeze procedure run by dramatically reducedenergy

The exterior curves of this remote retreat arc arounda central tree which strong informs the space shapedin the interior courtyard area. While this curious
form makes for an interesting visual object it alsoinforms how people move in , through and around i – in arcing, organic and naturalistic paths by thevoids inside and out.

In some places, rectilinear design objects are set
against the ever-present curves but they arestill tucked within the overall rounded theme. The rounded shell itself providesprotection from the elements for each interior
space .

Each space flows into the next, with the common elements ofWhite (for the shell and some furniture) and wood(for virtually everything else) tying the experience together.Likewise, natural ventilation carries throughout the wholehouse

VISULIZATION AT DAY & NIGHT
The shift from day to night in the structure is aremarkable one, as the ribbon of the building edgebecomes a kind of border between the light glowingwithin and the ever-darkening surrounding skiesand forest around.

The net result at night is a sense of comfort andenclosure – a connection to the elements through acopious use of glass mitigated by a thick, wrappingexterior shell. All in all, the results are a blend of
and completely contextual.
