Online registration is available for all programs listed in the recreation guide with a computersymbol next to it. Please visit www.townofbabylon.com for registration.
Any resident wishing to register online will need a USER ID and PASSWORD. If you do not have one already,please come to the Parks & Recreation Department, located at 151 Phelps Lane in North Babylon between thehours of 9 am and 4 pm, to obtain one. Please have on hand double proof of residency (NYS Drivers License andtax or utility bill) and birth certificates for the children in your household.
Registration for programs that are available for walk-in registration can be done, in person, at the Parksand Recreation office located at 151 Phelps Lane in North Babylon, between 9 am and 4 pm.

sProgressive AquaticsSwim ProgramsThe Town of Babylon Aquatics Program incorporates guidelines set forth by the American Red Cross to teachthe latest swimming and safety skills. Our morning Learn-to-Swim Program is for children ages 3 through15 and includes Jellyfish, Porpoise, Shark, Manatee, Levels 2 - 6, Teen, Fitness Swimmer and LifeguardReadiness classes. Additionally, we offer aquatic programs for children who have advanced past our Learn-to-Swim Program (Advanced Programs, page 14); infants and toddlers, children with special needs, andadults (Specialty Aquatics, pages 15 – 16); and an Intramural Swim Team program (Competitive
Aquatics, page 16).
Morning Swim Lessons:American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim ProgramEligibility: Town of Babylon residents only. Ages 3 - 15.Age is determined as of September 1, 2017Registration: Online Only.

Level 3A Stoke Develpment: ARC Level 2 cardrequired, freestyle and backstroke perfected,breaststroke and fly kick introduced, jumping intodeep water, beginner diving.
INTERMEDIATES:Swimmers in the intermediate levels should haveperfected freestyle and backstroke prior toregistering for these classes. Students will beworking on breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, anddiving.Level 3B Stroke Development: ARC Level 3Acard required, all level 3A skills reviewed plus 15yards of breaststroke and butterfly.Level 4 Stroke Improvement: ARC Level 3Bcard required, swimmers will be doing laps, mustbe able to swim 25 yards freestyle, backstroke,breaststroke and butterfly; standing dives andsidestroke are introduced.
ADVANCED SWIMMERS:Working on endurance and longer distances forevery stroke. Swimmers must know how toproperly execute the freestyle, backstroke,breaststroke and butterfly before registering forAdvanced Swimmer Classes.Level 5 Stroke Refinement: ARC Level 4 cardrequired, all strokes 50 yards with proper stroketurns, 25 yards sidestroke, racing starts, treadingwater for 2 minutes.Level 6 Personal Water Safety: ARC Level 5card required, all strokes 100 yards, 500 yardswim, all competitive starts and turns, surfacedives, 20-yard underwater swim and treadingwater for5 minutes.Fitness Swimmer (FS): ARC Level 6 cardrequired, endurance swimming based class, warm-up, stretching, stroke drills, interval swimming,heart rate, 500 swim, 200M, 1 hour class.Lifeguard Readiness (LR): Age 14, ARC Level6 or Fitness Swimmer Card required, 500 Swim,timed 50 yard freestyle, introduction to basiclifeguarding, this class covers the pre-skills testingrequired to get into the ARC Lifeguard TrainingCourse, 1 hour class.

PRE-BEGINNERS:Introduction to Level 1 skills. Separation class forchildren ages 3 and 4 ONLY. Parents do notaccompany students into pool area. Students willbe working on front and back floats, using arms,kicking and streamlines. Once student receives an American Red CrossLevel Card, advancement through the levels isbased strictly by skill level, age is no longer afactor. ARC Lifeguard TrainingThe purpose of this course is to teach the skillsand knowledge needed to prevent and respond toaquatic emergencies. Specialty AquaticsInfant and Toddler ProgramsThe following programs require children to cometo lessons wearing their swimsuit. For thosestudents not completely potty-trained, a swimdiaper is also required.
Aqua Tot (AT)This class designed for children 6 months to 2.5years old, as of July 7, 2017 (birthdates between1/7/15 and 1/7/17), this infant/toddler programis a water adjustment class that requires parentparticipation in the “big” pool. All level 1 skillswill be introduced along with basic water safetyskills. Instructors will use songs and water gamesto enhance the skills introduced, 30 minutes ofinstruction followed by 15 minutes of supervisedplay.Eligibility: Town of Babylon residents, ages 6months through 2.5 years old

Our program will start bydemonstrating howmotion pictures andtelevision are illusionsthat create the idea ofmotion. The children willthen work hands-onproducing animations on35mm film and createtracings of animation cellson light boxes. At the endof the class, their films will be shown on a moviescreen. We will explain the difference between lineanimation and stop-motion animation. Thechildren will then produce their own stop-motionanimation using pose-able figures. At the end ofthe class, their stop-motion animation will beshown on the movie screen. The students will thenproduce another stop-motion film using pose-able dinosaurs on a movie-set. At the end of theclass, the students will see their final stop-motionanimation on a movie screen. The class will alsobe producing live green screen effects, where thestudents can see themselves inside a majormotion picture film. Children will see themselvesin a scene of the Harry Potter film. They will alsobe dressed in costume and use movie props, suchas a flying broom. The students will also seethemselves on a movie screen as they are riding ahigh-speed rollercoaster. We continue the greenscreen technology as the students see themselvesinside the movie Jurassic Park. The children willbe running from a T-Rex, hiding from Raptors,and feeding a Brontosaurs with a prop branch.We will discuss the animatronic effects used inmovies, as we will present to the students ourrobot chimpanzee from our motion picturemuseum. Later, the students will create a stop-motion film using themselves as the special effectscharacters. They will then produce a moviespecial effects film using the techniques of stop-freeze, which was depicted in the television seriesBewitched.

The Town of Babylon’s state-of-the-art interactive spray parks are a great way for kids to keep cool thissummer! These creative and unique facilities provide adventurous landscapes for hours of fun.
All Town Pools are Resident Only. Proof of residencywill be required before entering a pool facility. Norefunds are given due to inclement weather.

Spray Parks
The Town of Babylon offers residents the option to purchase a family pool plan for the summer season. The term “family” in thiscontext means primary guardians and their dependents under the age of 18. Any family member over the age of 18 can not be includedon the family plan and must purchase an individual pool plan or daily tickets if they wish to use the facilities. When purchasing a familypool plan you must show proof of guardianship for any children in your care; this includes nieces, nephews, grandchildren and fosterchildren. A household pool plan consists of parent(s)/legal guardian(s) and children under the age of 18. *There are no replacementsfor any lost or stolen pool tokens; please secure your tokens after entering a pool facility.

New York State Access Pass (Disability Pass)The Town of Babylon Beaches are accepting the New York State Access Pass for vehicle admittanceonly into the Town Beaches in lieu of a Recreation Beach Pass purchased through the Town. Thiscourtesy will enable a Town resident access to Overlook Beach, Cedar Beach, Gilgo Beach, CedarMarina, Venetian Shores and Tanner Park parking lots. The New York State Access Pass is a N.Y.State Park disability pass. You must present your NYS individual access pass along with your NYSDrivers License and Car Registration showing you are a Town of Babylon resident to gain access toTown facilities.
