The facility’s existing 25 year old built up roof

with gravel had passed its service life. The

building’s use made it necessary to reroof with minimal disruption, and the county wanted to

take advantage of the opportunity to gain energy

efficiency with a cool roof solution.

Siplast’s NVS Lightweight Insulating Concrete

roof insulation not only offered increased energy

efficiency, but also meant no tear-off was necessary. The system was poured in place

over the old roof. In the future, the NVS deck

can be reroofed, again avoiding replacement of

old insulation. The high performance two-ply

SBS-modified bitumen Paradiene 20 TG/40 CR FR TG system was installed over the NVS. The

cap sheet is surfaced with bright white synthetic

chips, optimizing energy efficiency in the hot

Texas sun.
