Happy December Everybody!
This time of year is exciting for our young students who
take in the holiday hubbub around them in the world. While
we keep our learning environments focused and calm, we
also welcome a little holiday enrichment to put smiles on
our students’ faces. On Dec. 19th, our two marvelous Music
Teachers – Mrs. Suppa and Mrs. Hunt – will host holiday
sing-a-longs. Mrs. Suppa’s music club will share holiday joy
in the community as well, with performances at Vicar’s
Landing Dec. 5th and for their families Dec. 7th.
Our amazing Art Teachers – Mrs. Stroer and Mrs.
Scribner – have worked since school began on your
SquareOne art orders so you can have them in time for
holiday gifts. Mrs. Scribner is also our yearbook sponsor,
so you may see her taking pictures around campus in her
spare time (little joke there…she has no such thing!).
Our multitasking Media Specialists – Mr. Edeker and
Mrs. Gallaher – offer STEM “maker spaces” to welcome
students for books and beyond. Mr. Edeker and Mrs.
Gallaher also monitor student progress toward reading all
15 Sunshine State books for our Walls of Fame and Pals
with the Principal programs. Our popular PE teachers –
Coach Harden and Coach Sparks – are making sure our
students exercise their holiday excitement in this beautiful
weather. Come January, Coach Harden will support our
Rawlings students as they Jump Rope for Heart!
Thank you to our resource teachers who enhance our
students’ experiences, and who help us offer such
Excellence in Education! I hope this holiday season brings
much peace, love and joy for your families.

PVPV/Rawlings is proud to announce our Volunteers of the Year! We thank these
dedicated individuals for their contributions to our school and our community.
Marianne Stein is our Senior Volunteer. Mrs. Stein is well-known to our Rawlings
students for her work in the Media Center. She assists with book restoration,
categorizing books and when time allows, she is a brilliant storyteller.
Laura DeStella-Whippy is our Adult Volunteer. Mrs. DeStella-Whippy has worked
tirelessly with the Blessings in a Backpack program in our area schools. BIP is a
nationwide charity that provides breakfast and lunch supplements for children in
need. Last year she and her husband funded the program at PVPV/Rawlings, and
she single-handedly shopped and packed blessings for our students.
Neale Snell is our Youth Volunteer. Miss Snell is a 5th grader in Ms. DeGrasse’s
class. She helps her family work foster rescue dogs with SAFE (Saving Animals
from Euthanasia.) Neale has fostered Bernie, Skippy, Chicken, Cheeto, and Joey.
(But she’s keeping Cookie!)
Our stellar volunteers will be honored, along with other St. Johns County School
volunteers, at a reception on April 5th.
Thank you Food Service Manager Mrs. Peto for the
wonderful Thanksgiving Lunch!
NEW ENRICHMENT CAMP FOR JANUARY
Watch the website for a new enrichment camp coming in January – CHESS! As of
now we are planning on Fridays from 3:00-4:15.
PARENTS: FRIENDLY REMINDER: We need your help to make dismissal time go
as smoothly as possible. Let Lynda Wing, Extended Day Coordinator, know as
soon as possible and no later than 1:45 (12:45 on Wednesday) if your child will not
be attending EXTENDED DAY. You can reach her at 904-547-3830 or via email
If your child will not be attending their ENRICHMENT CAMP you should contact the
Camp directly and also the front office of your child’s building. It would be a huge
help if you would remind your student in the morning when they have a Camp after
school. You might also want to email or send a note to their teacher so she knows
where to send them. IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE
