Prayer of ConfessionGracious and loving God, the Psalmist was glad when invited to go to the house of the Lord. The boy Jesus also took delight in being in his Father’s house. As we gather on this second Advent Sunday, give us the same joy in our worship and forgive our lapse into heartless routine. We confess our need of your Spirit that we might be made right with you and sent as your servants to this world. Hear us now as we continue our confession in silence…

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
Offering Our GiftsAwake, Arise and Hail the Morn Mack Wilberg
Awake, arise, and hail the morn, halle, hallelujah,
For unto us a Savior’s born, halle, hallelujah,
See how the angels wing their way, halle, hallelujah,
To usher in the glorious day, halle, hallelujah!
To us a child is born in heaven, halle, hallelujah,
To us the Son of God is given, halle, hallelujah,
His name the wonderful shall be; halle, hallelujah,
His wonders heaven and earth shall see, halle, hallelujah!
Come join the angels in the sky, halle, hallelujah,
Glory to God who reigns on high, halle, hallelujah,
Let peace and love on earth abound, halle, hallelujah,
While time revolves and years roll ’round, halle, hallelujah!
Hark! What sweet music, what a song, halle, hallelujah,
Sounds from the bright celestial throng! halle, hallelujah,
Sweet song whose melting sounds impart, halle, hallelujah,
Joy to each raptured, listening heart, halle, hallelujah!
Our faith in grateful triumph boast, halle, hallelujah,
These wonders of the Lord of Hosts, halle, hallelujah,
And trust the zeal that formed the plan, halle, hallelujah,
To perfect what that zeal began, halle, hallelujah!

TODAY IN WORSHIP
Today we celebrate the Confirmation class of 2014 as they make their professions of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and become members of Peachtree. Ninety-one students have been growing as disciples, learning scripture and theology, and building new friendships. Pray for these students in this important faith commitment and rite of passage.
See page 4 for a complete list of participating students.
ADVENT SUNDAYToday is the second Sunday of Advent. Advent is a season of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus on Christmas. Advent candles help us keep watch for the coming of Jesus. We begin in darkness, lighting a candle each Sunday until Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve we light the Christ candle, celebrating the birth of Jesus, the Light of the World.
