Day6-FeetWashing,Softball,FarewellThursday,June15,2017Ourlastdayonsitehasarrived.Wearesadtogo,butwehadafundaywiththecommunitybeforeleaving!Quick recap on Movie Night: afterdinneronWednesday,weheadedbacktothecommunitytowatch"God'sNotDead 2" with the kids. We brought aprojectorthatwesetupinanopenareanexttothelibrary,andthecommunityleaderssetupchairsforbothusandthekidstositin.Mostofushad1-2kidsonourlapwhileleaderspassedoutbagsofpopcorn, thenwewatched themovieuntilabout9p.m. (wehada fewcutesleepersbytheend!).

As forThursday,westartedthedayasusual-devotionsat7:15a.m. followed by breakfast.Bonnie and Pat led us again indevotionals focusing on leaningnotonourselves,butintrustingthat God will put you on thecorrectpath.

We made it to El Almirante around 9 a.m. where westartedsetupinthechurchforfeetwashing.Welaidout10feetwashingstationsthatwewouldtaketurnsusing,whileothershelpedwithadditionaltasks,suchasbringingincleanwaterandkeepingthefloorsdry.ThekidsstartedoffreceivingalessonaboutJesuswashingthefeetofhisdisciples,thenfiledintothestationswhereweproceededto wash their feet. We asked them their names (inSpanish)andremindedthemofGod'slove.Wewereableto wash the feet of about 70 kids by the end of themorning!Aftercleaningthechurch,weleftfortheHandsofHopeofficeforlunch. Our last home-cookedlunch meal consisted of pasta,quinoa, fresh mango andpineapple,salad,andchickpeas.Weended the lunchwith a fewgames and a cake to thank ourhosts for accommodating ourgroupforluncheachday.

We headed back to El Almirante after lunch, mentallypreparing to defend our baseball title from last year.Whenwearrived,thecommunitywasalreadysetupforthegame-includingmanypeopleontheoutskirtsofthefieldreadytowatchandcheerontheirteam!Forthoseof us who didn't play, weenjoyed our last afternoonwiththekids-braidinghair,

blowing bubbles, andplaying"SapoSapito".Followingthebaseballgame,wewalkedbacktowards the libraryarea for the farewellceremony. We hadmembersofthecommunitythankusforcoming,aswell as had children talk to us about how theirsponsorshavechangedtheirlivesforthebetter.It

was very moving to hear, a few of us got teary-eyedlistening and thinking about our impending departure.Theceremonywrappedupwithadancefromoneofthelocalgirls,aswellasaprayerfromElAlmirante'spastor,PastorLuis.Slowlywemadeitbacktothebus,sayingourgoodbyesand hugging all the kidswhomade a difference in ourweek here. Many tears, smiles, and hugs later, we allmadeitonthebustoheadbacktoourhotel.We ended the day withdevotionals and dinner - JamieandSandiledusinadevotional,reading the story of Jesuswashingthefeetofthedisciples,followed by us all washing eachother'sfeet(smellyornot:)).WearesadthatourweekwithElAlmirantehasended,butweareexcitedtocomehome,shareourstories,andstartplanningfornextyear!Tomorrowisourfreeday,whereweplantogotothebeachandthelocalmarketforsomesouvenirs.Proverbs3:5-6TrustintheLordwithallyourheartandleannotonyourownunderstanding.InallyourwayssubmittoHimandhewillmakeyourpathstraight.
