An update to my Personal Brand Plan
The initial version of my personal brand incorporated things I like, but it just wasn’t me
I viewed it more as a project than an actual reflection of my personality online
This time, I’m going to be true to myself and who I am, rather than just trying to create something marketable LESSON LEARNED!
Exploring Social Media, Starting Conversations
Engage with others who have similar interests to me Skiing News/Politics Crosswords Cooking Travel in Ontario and abroad
By continuing conversations in these areas, I will allow my brand to evolve
Engage in at least one conversation per day with someone I haven’t met
Join at least three social networks specific to my areas of interest
Twitter will be the most frequent place to find my updates in the initial stages of developing my brand
If my brand becomes focused on one of my particular interests, I will use a blog to post more in-depth updates
Continue posting updates on Twitter regularly Post less to people I already know, and
engage people I do not Find and become active in at least three
new social networks by year-end
I have a variety of interests and do not want to focus on one in particular as of yet By engaging in conversations with a number
of active social media users on a variety of subjects, I can gradually focus my brand
Use Twitter to facilitate conversations on a variety of topics, as mentioned earlier
Use other social networks that are specialized to my areas of interest
Use Google Calendar to set deadlines and track my progress
Continue uploading iterations of brand plan to slideshare to watch it evolve
STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
•Brand is about me: is genuine•Will explore areas in which I have a natural interest: easy to commit•Am naturally curious, so starting conversations will not be difficult
•No strong positioning on a single topic as of yet: brand not easy to define
OPPORTUNITIES THREATS
•Broad focus allows me to engage with a large population on a variety of subjects
•Trying to engage with too many people at once may prevent me from holding meaningful conversations or building strong relationships
Open and approachable to people looking for information on a variety of subjects in my areas of interest
Naturally curious, and would like to learn from others
