Well done Isabella!
We would like to wish Toby Lines a very happy birthday this week. We hope you had a very

Our netball team played their first competitive match against Great Waltham this week. They did so well and built up a 4-1 lead at one point but eventually lost by one point.
Well done team!
Congratulations to Isabel Sime, Portia, Caitlyn Roby-Smith, Harry Webb and William Lodge who have all received certificates for good
work in Spanish this week.
Congratulations to Nicky Wynne and Gracie Gowers who have received this
week’s Times Table Rockstars‘ certificates.
We would like to thank everyone for the amazing response we have received this week to our Amazon
Shopping List. Parcels have already been delivered from Miss Burtenshaw,
Miss Hill, Miss Breen, Mrs Setford and Mrs Santos-Brien.
The items don’t necessarily have to bought from Amazon but the list of things are on
there. We will update this regularly. https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/1G0P44VDWK54I?

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of heavens”
Daniel 12:3
Respect, Trust, Courage and Truthfulness are our school values
Thank you to everyone who helped support the Ready Steady Read
sponsored event.
We have raised a staggering £661.24, which means that we as a school now have £1057.90 to spend on Usborne
books.
Congratulations to Lyla Setford who was the pupil who raised the most and wins £20 worth of Usborne books
for herself.
Parents to Lunch
Year 2 parents/carers came to lunch this week to enjoy Beef Pasticcio or Macaroni Cheese with their children.
Thank you for coming along and supporting this event and thank you to Miss Doe and Mrs Dymond for
cooking the delicious meals in our kitchen.
A huge thank you to Mrs Leach and Miss Breen for the book
donations from the recommended reading lists last week.
Congratulations to Toby Lines and Ronnie Boswell who both moved up a
colour in reading this week.
Keep up the good work!
Congratulations to the following children on passing their level 2 Bikeability Cycle training this week;
Portia, Samuel Tugwell, Thomas Linnett-Loizou, Caitlyn Roby-Smith, Harper Thompson and
Mya Martin
This training develops skills for cycling on single-lane roads with simple junctions
and moderate traffic and includes the core functions for safe and responsible cycling.
Class Star Readers
This week Leylands received the class star readers certificate.
Holidays in Term Time
We would like to remind all Parents/Carers that we will not authorise holidays during term time unless the reasons
are exceptional.
Penalty notices may be issued where there have been at least 10 sessions of unauthorised absence during the
previous ten school weeks.
The penalty for each parent is £60, for each child, if paid within 21 days of receipt of the notice. This rises to £120 if paid after 21 days but within 28 days of receipt of the notice.
Sports Relief Day
The children had fun on Friday as they attempted to climb Mount Everest.
Mr Sime set up a mini Everest in the hall and throughout the day the children took part to ascend as many times as
they could with the aim of covering all 8,848 metres elevation to reach the summit of the tallest mountain in
the world!
Thank you to parents and carers for sponsoring their children to help raise money for this great cause. The amount raised will appear on next week’s newsletter.
Remi our Pets as Therapy dog even joined in for a bit.
Thank you very much to Mrs Wills, Mrs Oddie, La Senora Meares, Miss Breen and Mrs Ovenden for coming in to help reband our books in the
library. Your help is very much appreciated.
Well done to Ruby Hawthorn-Meares, Caitlyn Roby-Smith, Samuel Tugwell and Thomas
Linnett-Loizou for taking part in the KS2 Maths Competition on Thursday. Mr Sime said you did really well and should be proud.
