SUBJECT: DECLARTNG THE LOON_MARTBOJOC UpLtFTEDCOAST AS A GEOLOGICAL MONUMENT_ WHEREAS, Executive OrderNo. 192 mandates the Department ofEnvironment and Natural Resources(DENR) to Ue tne primary'g;";r;;";iagencyresponsible forthe conservation, management, developme.i;.J ;r;;;;useof the country's environment andnatural 6.orr""., specifically torestanOgrazing rands, minerarresources, incruding thosein reservation ano*atersneoareas,and rands of the pubric domain, as weil as the ricensing ano regutation ofall natural resources as maybe provided forby tawin oroert6 ensrre"eqriiaoresharing ofthe benefits derivedtherefromfor the welfare ofthepresent andfuturegenerations of Filipinos;WHEREAS, Section 16,Chapter3, Tifle XlV, BooktV of Executive OrderNo.292or the Administrative code of 1987provid'es thatthe Mines ano Geo_SciencesBureau(MGB) shail advisethe oEtriRsecretary on matterspertainingto, amongolhers, geology and shallrecommendpoticies, ,eguLiio;s oiprogramspertaining to geology;WHEREAS, Section9 of Repubtic Act No.7942 or the philippine MiningAct of 1995,provides that the MGBshall,among others, undertake geologicairesearches andgeological surveys;WHEREAS, in undertaking geological researches andsurveysafterthe15 o-ctober 2013 7.2 Magnitude earthquake in Bohor,amongothei provinces,the MGBhas determinedthatce(ain coastalareasof the Muiicipalities of Loonand Maribojocof the said province rose from the seaand were Jplifted by up toabout 1.2meters,therebyformingunique geological features;WHEREAS, such upliftconstitutesan irreplaceable segmentof earth,shistory andgeological heritage andshould, therefore,be pres-erved,protectedand maintainedfor scientific,educationalandtourism purposes;WHEREFORE, the foregoing premises considered, theuplifted coastofihe Municipalitiesof Loonand Maribojoc, province of Bohol,is herebydeclaredas a Geological Monument,to be known as the Loon-Maibojoc -GeologicatMonument,under the followingguidelines for thecomplianceof all concerndd:ucSection1.Statement of PolicyIt is thepolicy of theStateto recognize,protect andpreserve the country'suniquegeological featuresforscientific,educationalandtourism purposes, andenhancingconsciousnesson the richnessofthe country's naturalheritage.LetosGoGreenSection 2.ObjectivesThe objectives of this Administrative Order are as follows:aToprovide a regarframework for therecognition, preservation and protectionot theLoon-Maibojoc Geotogicat uoniien'i.-"' ''b.
