CAPE COD, MA//FLEXTACTICS
Proposed wellhead conversion allows for program mutability over time. Wellheads can be converted as needed to aid in domestic and state training programs, pump fresh water to the surface, monitor contamination plumes, generate energy, etc. in order to accommodate temporary modes of occupation. As contaminants move through the subsoil, attenuate, and are removed, wellhead conversions can respond to changing needs and changing agencies.
On Cape Cod, fast draining septic fields on a sand substrate and a cocktail of chemical contaminants from munitions testing at the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR) are quickly polluting the sole source of drinking water on the Cape in six areas, or lenses. This project proposes to: remove point source pollution from the MMR and convert/realign the existing network of monitoring wells for programmatic purposes.

LA PRUSIA, NICARAGUA//THE FLEXIBLE GRIDIn La Prusia, a peri-urban barrio of Granada, Nicaragua, residents live under threat of constant eviction. Casas de la Esperanza, an NGO operating in La Prusia, has begun the construction of a new community center, fueled by local micro-finance, to provide alternate housing for those currently illegally inhabiting government land.
In this project, public space is defined by program and programmatic adjacencies. Defined by programmatic inputs and outputs, the timeline of inhabitation defines the spatial configuration of adjacent cells in the flexible grid. Stormwater runoff from hardscape and the impervious clay soil flows into gardens and a passive irrigation network, and then off-site to neighboring trees.

Luce Marina's son, Hector, is paralyzed from the waist-down and was in need of a new bedroom. The volunteers designed and built this room with available materials and fabricated all components on-site. I was responsible for fabrication of metal components as well as the bamboo bracing system used to set the posts in concrete.

MICHIGAN CITY, IN//RECLAIMING THE SHORELINEMichigan City's coal generating station continues to inhibit ecological and community growth. Its constructed shoreline and an up-current jetty prevent the formation of new dunes, and toxic ash settling ponds contaminate groundwater.
Establishment of ecological process [dune formation] through the reconfiguration of the shoreline allows surrounding ecologies to infiltrate the site, and the settling ponds are repurposed as intradunal wetlands. Existing site infrastructure becomes the frame for new site development.

EXISTING SITE INFRASTRUCTURE
SHORELINEINFRASTRUCTUREReconfiguration of steel sheet pilings encourages the accretion of sand, leading to the formation of embryo dunes. Eventually, foredunes will evolve and begin to host dune specialist species.
Near the existing plant, the existing beach becomes a vibrant new public beach. Public amenities are focused near this nexus of existing infrastructure, while ash slurry pipelines become walkways which infiltrate the southern edges of the site.

EARTH//WORLD TOUR IV25 nations, 52 cities, and countless sketches. This study abroad consisted of architecture, landscape architecture, and planning students, and included a curriculum based on architectural history/theory, sketching, and globalization in design.
MANHATTAN, KS//BIBLICAL WATERSFluid flows were simulated in 3DStudio Max to simulate potential flood patterns, and Grasshopper was used to manipulate ecological flows and process terrain. Post-processing was completed in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Completed for a representation course, this project visualizes a series of landforms constructed to create a safe-haven from Biblical-scale flooding. Base data was taken from ArcMap, manipulated in Rhinoceros, and new topographies were input into ArcMap.

persian gulf/strait of hormuz//IN DEFENSE OF OILFossil fuel resources in the Persian/Arabian Gulf are divided by geopolitical condition; to the northeast, Iran enforces its presence in the Gulf by threatening to blockade the Strait of Hormuz from its principal naval base at Bandar-e Abbas.
To the southwest, American air and naval bases litter the coast. Conveniently, all nations on the gulf other than Iran are nominal American allies. These maps make evident the striking correlation between geopolitics, spatial proximities, and resources.
