COURSES AT FRENCH NORMANDY
All courses are taught in full 60 minute hours.
Courses are offered at 6 levels: from A1 (beginner)
to C2 (upper advanced).
Courses begin every Monday. The first day includes
an orientation session of the town.
Morning classes are based on communicative
French and structural progression.
Afternoon workshops include sessions such as:
grammar, pronunciation, listening, writing or reading
skills enhancement.
The maximum class size is 8 in morning groups
and 10 in the afternoon workshops.
Students can prepare for the DELF and DALF
examinations on Thursday afternoons from 4pm to 6pm.
Students can take the BULATS Business French
test at any time during their stay.
All students receive a course certificate.
Student progress is monitored closely.

These are our basic language skills courses which we offer
all through the year. They give students flexibility in the number
of lessons per week: either the 25-hour intensive or the

for Specific and Business purposes. We teach a wide range of international
companies and embassies, so our team of highly experienced teachers
can develop the right programme for you.
In order to provide a competitive service for our Business clients
we offer both one to one and professional mini group courses
(4 people maximum) or combination courses: for example,
a group lesson in the morning and a tailor made number of
one-to-one lessons in the afternoon. Lunch with the trainer
is another possible and popular option.
French in Normandywill also be happy to organise meetings
with local business partners so you can practise your French
with people working in similar industries and positions.
PROFESSIONAL MINI GROUPThe mini group has a maximum of 4 students for 30 hours per week.

About the School
Established in 1982, the ICTN is the largest training centre
in Normandy for students wishing to work in the restaurant
and catering industry.
The ICTN boasts a full-time team of trained professionals.
The ICTN collaborates with Normandys best-known and highly
regarded restaurants to offer work experience and practicaldemonstrations to students.
Normandys Club des Toques of world-class and nationally
reputed chefs also plays an important role during the ICTN
courses, running special workshops in their areas of expertise,
such as fish, desserts or cheese dishes.
The programmes
The ICTN offers year-long academic vocational courses in cookery and
restaurant management leading to the French state qualification: the
CAP (Certificate of Professional Aptitude) (For details see page 15).
These courses include 4 weeks of practical work experience
in local restaurants.
The cookery course includes instruction on seasonal cooking, menu
compilation, presentation/decoration, kitchen management and more.
The restaurant management course includes instruction on managing
and marketing a restaurant, wines and drinks service and
management, ordering and stock keeping and more.
The sommelier (wine-waiting) course includes an introduction to
French wines and vineyards, different wine making methods, cellar
management and also offers students the chance to sample fine
wines from all over France.

About the School
Founded in 1871. It was the second business school to open in
France.
The school capitalizes on its entrepreneurial origins and strong

Training at the INBP: the National Instituteof Baking and Ptisserie
The professional choice for cakes and bread baking.
About the School
Founded in 1974 by the National Confederation of French
Baking.
The trainers at the INBP are fully-qualified and have wide-ranging
professional experience in restaurants, boulangeries and
patisseries or other related businesses.
Five of the present staff have been named in the annual FrenchNational Professional Awards as Top Professional in their fields.
The INBP has earned a reputation as a major player in the world
of bread baking, ptisserie and gteaux. That is why 8,000
students choose to study there every year.
All teaching staff are actively engaged in the industry. They are
involved in developing new techniques and they understand the
changing market-place.
Students are the first to benefit from the regular job offers sent to
the INBP by many French and international companies. This also
allows the institute to follow market trends and make any necessary
changes to courses so that its students are aware of and trained
in the latest technological advances and tastes in food.
INBP offers a comprehensive post-course service for students,
which includes individual career advice and information about

The bakery (boulangerie) course includes sessions on flours and
yeasts, traditional baguettes and other loaves, different European
brioches, special breads, savory or sweet tarts, viennoiseries and
decorated loaves.The ptisserie course has sessions on cakes and gteaux, working
in sugar and in chocolate, pastries, meringues and creams, biscuits,
confectionery, ices and tarts.
The chocolaterie-confiserie (chocolate and confectionary) course
includes sessions on applied food science, design, making sweets
and chocolates and techniques for working with chocolate.
In addition to these programmes, the INBP offers shorter introductory
or preparatory courses in cooperation with French in Normandy.

The Foundation Programmeat French in Normandy
Students ofFrench in Normandy can apply for a prestigious
business programme, delivered in English or in French, at the Rouen
Business School. These programmes include applying for internships
in local and international companies, so students that have been
accepted on a Rouen Business School programme very often need a
B2 level of French (refer to page 6 for level definitions) to participate
in this important component. Time spent studying at FIN will be a
great investment for students who want a European qualification and
work experience. It will also provide a fantastic introduction to French

The Foundation Programmeat French in Normandy
French in Normandy is proud to offer students the opportunity
to study Engineering at a leading French Engineering school,
ESIGELEC. Students can take a French Language course at FIN
before entering ESIGELEC with the appropriate language skills
for successful completion of the degree. Alternatively, students
undertaking the Masters program in English can take a French
language course at FIN because it is a wonderful introduction
to France and French living. FIN has a great socio-cultural
programme and a dedicated staff ready to help students
