Eyo furniture���country: Nigeria

The idea of the ‘Eyo chair’ comes from a popular festival in Nigeria known as the Eyo festival. The Eyo festival is a colorful festival that expresses and exhibits the culture and traditions of the city of Lagos, Nigeria. The word ‘Eyo’ means costumed dancer or Masquerade. The festival is staged in the memory of deceased worthy and illustrious individuals. Such as the white cap chief and other people who have contributed in the growth and development of Lagos, Nigeria. During the festival the masquerades come out to dance., they represent spirit of the dead that have come to cleanse Lagos of evil and to pray for its continued prosperity and peaceful existence.

The idea behind this furniture design is to give a reminder about the festival. It is something that can be used as a decoration in a home. It also can be used as a reading corner or a place for having some alone time or better still where prayers can said.
