One of the most recently offered certifications in Yadkin County is the ASK Business
Institute’s Fundamentals of Marketing Concepts certification. The Starmount High School
marketing department had 9 students to receive this credential. This certification means
that students understand key marketing concepts. These concepts include: business
administration, business communication, distribution, interpersonal skills, market-based
economics, marketing, professional development, and selling. These students take the
study of business and marketing seriously and by passing this test it indicates potential for
a successful business career. “I am very proud of these students. They worked extremely
hard to gain this certification. This certification is a testament to their work ethics and the
knowledge gained in the marketing classroom. This certification can be used to gain
employment and will be very impressive on their resumes and college applications,” says
Melanie Matthews, Marketing Teacher at Starmount High School.
Students in many CTE courses are given the
opportunity to obtain a credential(s) related
to their field of study. These credentials add
a positive piece to the student’s resume’.
