INTRODUCINGA leader in quality cryogenic valves, CPC-CRYOLAB takes
another step forward in its next generation of quality valve
components: The AutoSeal valve actuator.
BUILT IN EXTRA FEATURESFeaturing a compact, efficient design, the AutoSeal provides
greater shutoff force and performance than most comparable
models, yet is economically priced. Special features which
make this actuator innovative are the multiple spring ranges
that minimize actuator sizes, molded rolling diaphragm and the
unique corrosion resistant stainless steel trim. You can select
multiple working pressures and spring ranges without
increasing the diaphragm casing size or weight loads.
REDUCED SERVICE and MAINTENANCE COST
The 36 and 60 square inch actuators are field reversible.
Using the same parts, you can quickly change from fail open
to fail closed. In addition, interchangeable actuator sizes are
available to meet varying operating conditions. Long service
life is provided through closely guided low friction internal parts,
corrosion resistant materials and other special design features.

INSTALLATIONThe AutoSeal line of diaphragm actuators installs easily onto
the top actuator adapter flange. A yoke lock nut is supplied
that threads down for a positive fit with full 360-degree posi -
tioning. The stem connection is simplified with a threaded
adapter that is adjustable to many different stem lengths.
Several size yokes are available to choose from with custom
sizes available from the factory. An accessory mounting
bracket is available when instrumentation hardware is ordered
separately for field installation.
INSTRUMENTATION OPTIONSThe AutoSeal line of actuators is well supported with a
complete line of positioning and regulating hardware. The
accessories can be field installed or factory equipped at time
of order. Your ability to choose the process signals, to meet
the design requirement, is easily done through the full range of
AutoSeal accessories. The actuator yoke has threaded
mounting holes and the mounting bracket is adjustable for all

The close tolerance Dual Seal Bayonet is a flanged connection using ANSI type flanges. It is assembled with two O-rings, Teflon® nose seal and
stainless steel nuts and bolts. An assembly kit is required for each pair.

Features
• No Losses, No Leaks– No loss of expensive cryogenic liquids, cold gas vapors
or process fluid. A spiral-wound gasket ensures a leak-
tight seal.
• Lower Maintenance / Labor Costs– Replacement of the union housing is eliminated. Only a
change of gasket is required when the Uniseal Coupling
is disassembled.
– No need to spring the pipe during make-up or
disassembly.
– It is less costly to make and break than flanges.
• Lower Inventory Costs– Only a few Uniseal Pipe Couplings and gasket kits in each
size are required to back up installations.
– One Uniseal satisfies all pressure series of flanges in pipe
sizes 1/2” to 2”.
• Ease of Installation– The gasket is held firmly in place with a patented retainer.
– There is no danger of damaging the seal during
installation as it is fully protected from over-torquing.
• Welded Piping Systems– With the gasket removed while welding the coupling into
the piping, the danger of damaging the seal is eliminated.
– Costly removal of sections of pipe to replace leaky unions
is eliminated.
• Component Interchangeability– All components of the Uniseal Couplings, in each size
class, are fully interchangeable.
– End connections can be socket weld, threaded, or a
combination of both.
IntroductionStainless steel-ground joint-pipe unions have been used for years invirtually every type of industry. The majority of ground joint- pipe unionsconsist of a metal-to-metal seal. During installation, this type of seal issubject to scoring damage on the lapped seats causing leakage whichrequires the entire union to be replaced. Also, during normal operation,the piping system vibration, pressure surges and flexing movement ofthe union cause the metal-to-metal seals to wear and eventually causeleakage problems. This results in dangerous leaks of product,replacement costs and excessive downtime.
Uniseal Pipe CouplingThe Uniseal Pipe Coupling (WU) has successfully solved frequentleakage, intensive maintenance and stocking difficulties associated withground joint pipe unions.
The WU is a modified stainless steel pipe union which utilizes a spiral-wound gasket to provide a leak-tight joint. This design, similar inprinciple to flange joints, has been proven in the field for many years.Because the joint seal is formed by the replaceable gasket (not aground joint finish), failures caused by poor mating surfaces areeliminated. Components may be stocked and replaced individuallybecause mated parts are not required for sealing.
