Easter Services 2016
The Great Three Days—sometimes called the Triduum or Pasch—from sunset Holy Thursday through sunset Easter Day are the climax of
Lent and the whole Christian year and a bridge into the Easter Season. These days proclaim the Paschal mystery of Jesus Christ’s passion,
death, and resurrection. During these days, the community journeys with Jesus from the upper room, to the cross, to the tomb, and to the garden. They should be seen as a great unified service beginning with the a service of Holy Communion on Holy Thursday and concluding
with the services of Easter Day. These services may be connected with a prayer vigil lasting from Holy Thursday evening until the first service
of Easter and may be accompanied by fasting. (BOW #320)

Greetings from the Parsonage Family, I pray that you and yours have had a revealing and enlightening Lenten Season thus far and are preparing for a wonderful Holy Week and Easter. I know that when taken fully in all its reality the Len-ten Season can be a sometimes heavy thing, but as you have become aware of by now I take seriously the possibilities of the enlightenment of the journey when experienced in all its possibilities. I look for-ward to a joyous first Easter experience in this place with all of you. We are in the midst of planning an alternate service to begin the first of April. The details and timing of this Service in conjunction with other Sunday activities is still being worked out by Worship and interested parties with more details to follow but if you are interested in participating we will be meeting each Thursday at 6:30pm to brainstorm, plan, and practice. We will be beginning a short term study on “Five Marks of a Methodist,” by Steve Harper in the near future so be on the lookout for details coming soon. Also by now you should have received some information on stewardship. We know that this is coming in a somewhat hurried manner but with the changes and adjustments necessitated by the move late last year please understand and participate as God leads you. Now back to Easter. The defining event in the Christian life is the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No event is more foundational to our hope than an empty grave. Without Easter, what would be the hope or the promise? We would have no assurance of a resurrection and of eternal life. We would have nothing. With it we have everything. I had a close friend call and tell me I had to see a new movie, “Risen.” They said if I did not like it they would even give me my money back. It got me to thinking about those first Christians and non-believers that experienced the Resurrection. Imagine the rollercoaster ride of emotions of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Morning. All hope stripped away then an empty tomb. God’s mon-ey back, satisfaction guaranteed Hope, in a Resurrected Jesus. Kandace and I are getting our footing under us in this place and you have been more than gra-
cious in that process. We are excited about the ministries we will be doing together and the transfor-
mations coming for all of us. God has a Preferred Future planned for this congregation. A future of joy,
hope, transformed lives, and unimaginable opportunities with a satisfaction guarantee. The only ques-
tion we each must ask is, “Will we be part of it?” I pray the answers are yes.

Many hundreds of years ago, when wealthy Europeans lived in dark, drafty castles with thick stone walls, tapestries were woven by the women to warm both their homes and their churches. These tapestries told stories; either of family history or stories about Jesus. On Maundy Thursday, March 24, the Chancel Choir will present “Tapestry of Darkness”, the story of Jesus’ last week before he was crucified. This work uses music, scripture, and candles to weave a Ho-ly Week experience into a tapestry that we can experience today. Please plan to join us in the Sanctuary on March 24, at 7:00pm.

WEEKDAY SCHOOL Lisa Walker—Director

Weekday School News
Our Weekday School students have been staying busy learning about Ameri-
can and our Presidents. We are looking forward to our upcoming unit on Texas
and the rodeo. And of course, we will soon focus our attention to all things
Easter!
We have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoying some ex-
tended recess time!
Upcoming Registration:
We will begin registration for the 2016-2017 school year in March. Look for the
registration forms on the website soon. Packets will also be available in the
Weekday School and church offices.
We are considering adding some additional hours to our schedule – most likely
this would be in the form of additional time before and after our regular school
day of 9am – 2pm. If you have any comments or wish to have input into what
hours would be beneficial to your family or families that might be interested in
our school, please feel free to email [email protected] or speak
to Lisa Walker.
The Methodist Men would like to thank all of our wonderful congregation
for their generosity and support of the Scouting Ministry. The proceeds
from the BBQ luncheon, dessert auction, and private donations totaled
$1200.00. These revenues will be generously applied back to Scouting
program needs, Eagle Scout projects, mission projects (such as
G.O.Y.D.), and/or emergency needs of the community.
The members of the Methodist Men also support and are active in the
many duties and ministries of our church including Kids Hope, "Get Off
Your Donkey", board members, or on the various other committees that
help this church function. It's such a great blessing to see our church
pull together for such worthy causes. Thank you all again, and may Gods
peace and blessings be with you all. Amen
Thank You Notes
Crosby United Methodist Church, I want to thank all of the wonderful ladies who prepared meals for my mother-in-law, Mary Ann Brady. Until she became so very sick and you be-gan bringing meals to her, I had just never thought about all the effort and love that you put into the is ministry. This is a beautiful blessing! Not only for the meals but because it came from her church that she dearly loved. Thank you Again, Sandy & Luther Brady

In Appreciation Note Card Thank you so very much for making a donation to the CUMC Memorial Fund in memory of my mother-in-law, Mary Ann Brady. I can’t think of anything that would have meant more to her than your contribution to the church she loved. Sincerely, Sandy & Luther Brady
On behalf of our Scouting Ministry I want to thank the whole congregation, families, and friends that were here Scout Sunday. It was a fantastic Sunday seeing the young men in service and wouldn't have been possible without all your support. I especially want to thank the Methodist Men for all hard the work they did to provide, cook, and serve the wonderful BBQ luncheon and oversee the dessert auction. There's so many personal
thanks I'd love to give here but it would take up the whole page. I will thank you individually though. Most of all though I give all praise, honor and glory to the 3 of hearts,
God the father, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Thanks again, James Malac

Blue & Gold Banquet February 20, 2016
Most Cub Scouts celebrate Scouting Anniversary Week in February with a "birthday party" called the blue and gold banquet. In nearly all packs, the blue and gold banquet is the highlight of the year. It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. It's often the pack meeting for February. The Scouting Program started February 8, 1910 by William Boyce.
The purpose of the blue and gold banquet is to celebrate the pack's anniversary, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack, and inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents. Packs often like to invite former members and other Scouting or community leaders to take part in their blue and gold banquet.
