CORONAVIRUS AND OUR CLUB
In the context of COVID – 19, it is timely to remind members that it is
in our own interests to practice basic principles of health and
cleanliness when visiting the Club and engaging in activities.
Good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene is the best defence against
most viruses.
Wash your hands
o upon arriving after payment of money, before
commencing your activity, especially if it involves
using items – cards, tiles, bowls
o before and after tea breaks
o after using the bathroom
Cover cough / sneeze with a tissue, or your inner elbow
and wash hands afterwards
Stay home if you feel unwell or are experiencing flu-
like symptoms such as coughing, sneezing or sore
throat
The Management Committee is monitoring Government
announcements and will update our Club protocols as required.

SHUTTERBUG’S “BACK TO BASICS”
The next Shutterbug’s camera group meeting
will be held next Thursday 19 March starting
at 9.30am. Fellow Shutterbug’s member,
Steve Walmsley, will present part two of his

of the various settings on our cameras. This
session will include the EV setting, metering
systems, picture size and quality. As per
usual, there will be plenty of time for
questions and everyone is encouraged to
bring along their cameras as these sessions
will also take a practical approach. There is
no need to book, just come along on the day.
Our monthly display project for March is
“Abandoned”. Everyone welcomed whether
beginner or advanced. Norm Swanwick

55 FILM GROUP – ‘POMS’
Leading into Seniors Week, the 2019
American comedy ‘Poms’ is a film
about ‘acting bolder, not older’.
Perhaps a little bit corny and predictable, it is
a warm and at times wickedly funny flick.
Diane Keaton, Jackie Weaver and a cast of
familiar faces entertain as the tale of mortality
and aging unfolds to the sound of a foot-
stomping soundtrack. I guarantee laughter,
tears and the drumstick! And maybe a new
Club customary activity! Janelle Burns
Sunday – 22 March – 2.00 pm
‘COME & TRY’ SUNDAY GAMES
Bolivia, 500 Cards, Cribbage and
Mahjong are already weekly
activities on the Club’s timetable. If
you have thought about joining on of
these groups, on Sunday 22 March, you will
be able to ‘come & try’ as some of the weekly
players will be on hand to show you how
addictive these games can become! This is
an informal and social get together and is
open to all games. If you have a favourite
board or card game why not bring it along to
share your enthusiasm with others. Please
put your name on the list on the noticeboard,
either in TSC or Gumnut Cottage. Afternoon
is provided though contributions are always
welcome. Anne Meade

PROBUS TUGGERANONG
COACH TOUR – TARAGO NSW
Tuesday – 7 April – 9.00 am
Probus Club Tuggeranong have again invited Club members to join them for another of
their interesting and informative days out. This time the destination is Tarago visiting
the Woodland Bioreactor and then lunching at the Loaded Dog Hotel – details below.
WOODLAWN BIOREACTOR (VEOLIA) FACILITY
One of the largest purpose-built bioreactor landfill projects in the
world filling an abandoned open cut mine, The Woodlawn
Bioreactor currently manages around 20% of Sydney’s putrescible
waste diverted from NSW landfill facilities. The bioreactor generates power by
harnessing the methane gas created by the decomposing waste to generate biogas.
The biogas is then used to power generators producing both electricity exported to the
grid and waste heat utilised in an aquaculture project. Captured emissions generates
clean energy for up to 30,000 homes.
THE LOADED DOG HOTEL.
(inclusive, order from the given menu)
Situated in Tarago NSW since 1848 named after Henry Lawsons
story, the Loaded Dog Hotel is a historic bar where patrons meet
for drinks, music & food.
It was at the Loaded Dog where a meeting was called in the early 1860’s by the
infamous bushranger Frank Gardiner. He invited the Clark Brothers and the equally
infamous Ben Hall to meet him for a ‘summit’ at the hotel to discuss a major robbery.
The Majors Creek mine was planning to transport one million pounds worth of bullion
Along the Braidwood/Goulburn Road, and although the shipment was to be heavily
guarded, Frank Gardiner was sure they could succeed. The area around Tarago is a
hilly country, and a person could easily ‘get lost’ if they so needed.
Departing from Town Centre Vikings at 9.00 am,
the tour will arrive back about 5.00 pm
as there might be a stop at Bungendore on the way home.
Booking with payment of $55.00 p.p. by Friday March 20.
Club office hours 9.30 am to 2.30 pm daily.
