Members Enjoying e Club!
Over the last two months, multiple projects and
renovations have taken place. New carpet has been installed in the Grille, and the front entryway is completed, just waiting for the new signage to match PrimoVita and Citrus Hills Pro Shop. Beautiful new paver walkways have been added with a new railing as well. The entire entrance has been completely fi nished with beautiful landscaping and red rock. It looks outstanding, and something of which we can all be truly proud.
The enclosed area around the BellaVita hot tub has also been completed, and members are loving the privacy of the new glass block enclosure and ventilation system. Skyview Tennis also received a huge makeover. All courts received new line tapes, the entire upper deck area was repainted, a new ice machine and two
new water fountains were added, we replaced canopy covers, repaired clay courts, and more. We also installed new lamp posts with LED lights throughout the Activity Center parking lot. This was done to improve nighttime walking visibility after shows and evening events. As we continue to accomplish our planned improvements, we
appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during the renovation.
A couple weeks ago we had a New Member Social hosted at Skyview Restaurant. The turnout was tremendous with over 60 new resident members attending. We are extremely proud to welcome them to our community and Club.
Our staff is working tirelessly during the remaining summer month to fi nalize plans for the upcoming season. We look forward to offering many new and innovative activities and dining options, as well as exciting golf, tennis and fi tness events. Have a great month!
BUILD ON YOUR HOMESITEBy Greg Souris, Vice President Sales & Marketing
Greetings everyone! As you all know by now, our LIVE Citrus Hills Model
Center at Atlantic and Essex is open by appointment only. We are focused on having our homesite owners visit our beautiful community via a Rediscovery Tour. Our goal is to help them rediscover all of the changes that have taken place since their purchase, which in many cases was over 20 years ago! Many of our homesite owners have no idea about all of the new amenities we have to offer, as well as the many programs put in place just for them. We can’t thank the members enough for being so very welcoming and helpful to our new visitors and homeowners.
Citrus Hills Construction, teamed with our Build On Your Homesite program leaders, has allowed homesite owners fl exibility on programs and modifi cations that will provide a one-of-a-kind dream home and a chance to “Live the Dream” in our pristine resort-style community
with amenities second-to-none. For example: Homesite owners have the ability to build on their homesite, or to
trade the value of their homesite toward another company-owned homesite in other Villages in Citrus Hills, such as Brentwood or Terra Vista. They are also given the ability to trade the value of their homesite to a move-in ready showcase home.
Thanks again to all of our members for your support and welcoming of our new members and homeowners arriving here in the vibrant community of Citrus Hills.
For our homesite owners, it all starts with a simple phone call or email to schedule a visit on our Rediscovery Tour. This is the best time of year to come and experience for yourself the lifestyle that has caused so many people to call this community home. Call now, 800-380- 4662, or email [email protected]. For more information, visit our website at LiveCitrusHills.com.
One-Pan Autumn Chicken DinnerIt means less cleanup and it’s just easier to serve that way. This one-pan chicken
dinner is a fall recipe that’s fi lled with healthy vegetables. One pan means easy preparation, serving and cleanup! And this is the perfect dinner for the fruits and vegetables in season for fall.
COOKING WITH Chef Dwane
Preparation:Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Pour two tablespoons of olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic
and herbs into a gallon-size re-sealable bag. Add chicken, season with salt and pepper, and then seal bag and massage mixture over chicken to evenly distribute herbs. Set aside and let marinate. Place sweet potato, Brussels sprouts, apples and shallot on a large, rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with remaining olive oil, then toss to evenly coat, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Spread into an even layer, then set chicken over the veggie/fruit mixture. Sprinkle bacon evenly over mixture. Roast in preheated oven until golden brown, about 30 minutes (chicken should register 165 degrees in center). Sprinkle with more herbs and serve immediately.
Ingredients: 4 - 5 (6 - 7 oz.) bone-in, skin-on Chicken Thighs 4 Tbsp. Olive Oil, divided 1½ Tbsp. Red Wine Vinegar 3 cloves Garlic, minced 1 Tbsp. each minced fresh Thyme, Sage and Rosemary, plus more for serving 1 large Sweet Potato (peeled if desired), chopped into ¾-inch cubes

costumes and glittery disco balls are still a huge draw for partygoers today! As a result, “Disco Fever” has spread to Citrus Hills and is taking over the Hampton Room on Thursday, September 15th!
Don’t worry if you’ve forgotten those disco moves – professional
instructor Butch Philips will be p r e s e n t to o f f e r complimentary lessons on “The Hustle” so you can dance like you’re in “Saturday Night Fever”! Live music will be provided by Amee Reece’s Boogie Feva Band, an amazingly talented group that will pump you up with favorites
such as the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive,” Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” the Trammp’s “Disco Inferno,” and many more tunes you’ll be sure to remember.
You’ll also want to raid your closet and find your grooviest disco outfit — there’ll be a costume contest for the best dressed with great prizes! With funky beats, glittering décor and plenty of opportunities to “burn baby burn,” this is one dance party you won’t want to miss!
September delivers great events to keep you busy and active all summer. Have a great month!
Our friends up north typically mark Labor Day as the “end of summer,”
but summer never ends for Floridians! We’re going to extend the summer and celebrate with our first-ever Summer Bazaar & Ice Cream Social on Saturday, September 10th.
The Activity Center will be full of local vendors sharing their creative gifts and crafty wares. Our show sponsor, Lynn’s Ice Cream, will be poolside offering deliciously cold and scrumptious homemade sweets. Another sponsor, Greener Side Haven, is an animal rescue group that will be bringing Pookie, a little Pekingese/poodle mix, and Shilie, a 14-year-old white shepherd mix, to spread awareness about their non-profit organization.
This event will also feature music provided by Al Brady, one of the state’s most recognized DJs, who is frequently featured with Rocky and the Rollers! This is a FREE event for members, and a great opportunity to socialize and meet new neighbors!
In line with our never-ending summer, did you know that disco is still going strong? Those funky beats, retro

Coming in October
We are nearing the end of this long, hot summer and looking
forward to the weather cooling down a little for autumn. Fall is the perfect season to enjoy lunch and/or dinner at the Grille or Tiki Bar while sipping on a refreshing cocktail. We start this month off with our mouthwatering Labor Day Buffet on Monday, September 5th. Rock the night away with the talented Bill Castner performing all of your oldies favorites. The buffet will be the only menu available in both the Grille and the Tiki Bar for this event.
With the cooler weather approaching, The Tiki Bar is the place to be! We will continue our 3-5pm Tiki Happy Hour offering of $1.50 Tiki drafts and $3 well drinks and house wines. The Tiki Bar is the perfect place to watch your favorite teams battle it out this season for Football Frenzy every Sunday, and we offer Brews & Wings specials every Thursday. Our Monday night live entertainment also continues with amazing bands performing from 5-8pm. You really won’t want to miss the Tiki Rum Party on Wednesday, September 28th, with rum-infused menu items, specialty
drinks, and live music by The 45s. We are now taking reservations for this "rum-licious" buffet with a Caribbean flair!
September also starts our new Sunday Mimosa Madness Brunch in the Grille. We have created a great
new brunch menu for you to enjoy with some bubbly with six different mimosa flavors! Or purchase the unlimited mimosas and try them all for just $15 per person (sharing not permitted)! Our lunch menu is also available
from 11am to 3pm. Start the day during the week with one of the Grille’s breakfast specials. You can't find a better breakfast for the price, which includes two eggs cooked your way, sausage or bacon, home fries, toast and coffee, all for $5.25.
We realize that the past few months have been a challenge to maneuver your way into the restaurant during our renovations. We want to thank you for your patience and continued support. Now that most of the work is complete, we hope you will come in more often to enjoy all of the exciting events and specials we have planned for you. As always, we look forward to serving you!

TENNIS TALKBy Bruce Payne, Director of Tennis
Our summer projects are nearly complete, and right on time for
a new season of tennis! After the entry landings into courts seven and eight were rebuilt to eliminate puddles, I was asked to include any additional projects that will help improve our facility. The intent was to complete as many renovations as possible during the summer months. The list I compiled looked daunting, even to me, and required signifi cant resources to complete. The list included: repainting the banister and crown molding on the deck; purchasing and installing an ice machine for the deck; repainting the canopy frames and replacing the old canopies with new ones; replacing aging water coolers; replacing court lines on all courts; and replacing weather-beaten sections of windscreen.
I am happy to report that all of my recommendations were approved, and most have been completed, or will be soon. The maintenance crew added new surface material and rolled it in nice and tight to level any low spots and improve drainage. Our crew
also replaced several of the Indian Hawthorne bushes with fresh, new landscaping on the west side of the complex, creating a beautiful new appearance when approaching from that side. Along with the new sidewalks and sod added last year, that area has been completely transformed.
And all of this is just in the nick of time. USTA Combo
Leagues begin competing on weekend afternoons in mid-September. CADL women’s Thursday morning league begins playing on October 13th,
and we have two special events coming your way
this fall. The Tennis Taco Fest returns on October 16th. This social
event consists of two hours of men’s and women’s doubles followed by a taco buffet with all of your favorite fi llings and your favorite beverages on the deck. Members may invite members or non-members to partner up. Guest fees are waived.
Then, on November 18-20th, we offer our Annual Mixed Doubles Club Championship tournament. After the last ball has been hit, stick around for our annual Skyview Burger Bash. Burgers and chicken will be grilled on-site. YUM!! It’s a great way to cap off the tournament weekend.

We’re now coming into my favorite time of year here in Citrus
County. September and the beginning of fall are perfect for enjoying the outdoors. And, of course, our golfers, pickleball, bocce ball, and tennis players love the cooler weather and uncrowded conditions. With miles of beautiful walking paths and shaded parks, fall is a great time to dust off those athletic shoes and stroll around Terra Vista. September is here and that means the start of our golf
tournament season. On September 12th & 13th, we will be hosting our Men’s Fall Tamposi/Nash Cup. The top 24 point earners qualify for the tournament with the top two point earners being Captains of each team. Currently, as I write this, there are only four points separating 11th and 24th place, and 10 players are within three points of 24th place. The more you play, the better the chance you have of qualifying. We will also be hosting our Annual Skyview Cup Shoot-Out on September 29th, where the top 10 point earners play in a 9-hole shoot-out.
As a PGA Golf Professional, the one question I receive most often is, “What type of putter should I buy?” There are many factors that need to be addressed before you can pick out a putter.
You fi rst need to determine what type of stroke you have and what type of stroke you want. We will
SKYVIEW GOLFBy Herb Hurley, PGA Head Professional
start with a straight-back, straight-through stroke. If this is the type of stroke you have or would like to have, you will want to look for a center-shafted or face-balanced putter. If you believe what I believe, that the putting stroke has a slight
arc in it, then you will want a putter that is slightly toe
heavy. And lastly, if you want to have a stroke that goes from inside to inside more than a slight arc, then you want a toe-heavy putter. To determine how a
putter is balanced, grab a putter and balance it on your
index fi nger and see how the toe hangs. If the face is pointing to the ceiling, then the putter is face balanced; the more the toe points to the ground, the more toe heavy the putter.
The last thing you will want to do is look for a putter that looks good to you when you set it down behind the ball. The better the putter looks to you, the more confi dent you will be and the more putts you will make. See you on the links.

If you are new to our community and are looking to fi nd a way
to meet other golfers, let me make you aware of some of the weekly leagues we run for players of all abilities. All of our pro shop-conducted leagues are open to golf and social members alike. For men, we offer two leagues each week. On Tuesdays is our 18-hole Men’s League. The format changes from week to week, but it is generally an individual low-net or individual point quota game. Our second league for men is a 9-hole option. The Thursday Men’s 9-Hole League is an individual low-net format. Tee times for both men’s leagues are generally held mid-to-late morning.
For the ladies, we conduct a Ladies’ 9-Hole Social League each Wednesday. This is a fl ighted, 9-hole individual low-net game. Players have the option of playing 18 holes if they like, however, only the fi rst nine holes are scored for the game. Tee times for the Ladies’ 9-Hole Social League are generally held mid-to-late mornings as well.
OAKS & MEADOWSBy Wayne Larsen, Head Professional
Friday is a Couple’s Golf Day. The format for this fun 9-hole league is one best ball of the couple. The
late morning tee time is perfect for those who like to enjoy a bite to eat and socializing at the Tiki Bar following play.
We also have a league for beginners. Our Newbie Niners play each Thursday afternoon from October through April. This fun,
non-competitive league will help you learn the “what,” “where,” and “when” of this great game while playing with others at your skill level.
Sixty-four players competed in our Awesome August Open, and the results can be found in the Fairway Feats section of this Connections.
Without a crystal ball, the advanced writing of this article will not let me pin down a specifi c date for the grand re-opening of our beautifully renovated Oaks course. We do have a special day of golf, food and contests planned, and you will receive those details in your daily emails from our marketing department as soon as we have them.

BellaVita Spa’s September Spotlight Product
During the monthof September!
BIOELEMENTS20% off ANY
retail product
you have determined your skin type, it is easy to choose products best suited for your needs.
The Bioelements line of products is suited for all skin types, but is especially suited for people with combination skin. The products
use botanical ingredients and are free of the oils and fragrances that irritate and clog the skin. Plant extracts are integral to the line’s chemistry. Bioelements aim
to treat individual skin care needs through science, natural
ingredients, and the extensive experience of a licensed esthetician.
The estheticians here at BellaVita will identify your individual skin type, and then customize a skin care regimen designed to best suit your skin. Products for all skin care types are available for purchase at the front desk. During the month of September you will be able to buy any product in stock for 20% off the regular price. If you haven’t been to the spa at BellaVita, I encourage you to make an appointment to have your skin rejuvenated. We also offer a full nail salon, massage therapy, and body treatments. Permanent makeup is available at the Brentwood facility. Please check our spa specials in the daily emails, on our website, Facebook, or on the mobile phone app.
BellaVita proudly uses and sells the Bioelements skin care line.
You may not realize it, but if you have ever had a professional facial you have no doubt experienced the benefi ts of Bioelements. The skin care line was initially created by esthetician Barbara Salomone in the early ‘90s. Salomone sought to combine the knowledge she obtained from her years as a Hollywood esthetician and the latest developments in cosmetic chemistry. The products in the line are specially formulated and created to treat a wide variety of skin conditions, from dry skin to acne. The line categorizes skin needs by using a system called Biotypes, which enables consumers to choose the products that best suit their skin care needs.
Within the line’s specialized system are six different Biotypes. These types are determined by the skin’s oil production. The line ranges from defi nitely oily to defi nitely dry. In between these two extremes are the options suited to people with combination skin. This is the area where most people fall into. Once

10 Tips for Driving in Rain1. Slow down. You should drop to at least 15 miles per hour below the speed limit when driving in the rain.2. Increase following distance. Leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.3. Turn on your headlights; it's the law. Headlights not only help you see, they help other drivers to better see you.4. Do NOT turn on your hazard lights; it's illegal. Although you may be trying to prevent a crash, having your emergency lights on in the rain can actually cause a crash.5. Check your tire tread. Grab a penny and insert it head fi rst into your tire’s tread groove. If you can see all of President Abraham Lincoln's head, it's time to replace your tires.6. Brake cautiously. You should decrease your speed to avoid hydroplaning in a storm, but abrupt braking can cause lock-up and loss of steering control. If you have anti-lock brakes, apply steady, fi rm pressure to the pedal.7. Buckle up. When it is fi nally safe to venture out, take the extra time to buckle your seat belt. It is the law in Florida, and statistics continue to show that seat belts save lives. 8. Be prepared for high winds. Gusty wind makes driving diffi cult, especially when it is rapidly changing speed and direction.9. Be prepared for standing water. Never drive through fl ooded areas, even if you are familiar with the roads. The area of roadway you cannot see beneath the water may be washed out, or the water may conceal debris, tree branches, or even power lines.10. Do not stop on a freeway or heavily traveled road. If you must pull off the road, use your signals and pull off as far from the road as possible. After pulling off the road, turn on your hazard lights.
