The term “Telangana” was designated to distinguish the Telugu region from
Marathwada as part of Hyderabad State.
One of the earliest references to the word Telangana can be seen from the name of
Malik Maqbul, who was called Tilangani, which infers that he was from Tilangana.

widely known for celebrating festivals Dussehra , Bonalu (celebrating the Hindu

Telangana is bordered by the states of Maharashtra to the north and north-west,
Karnataka to the west, Chhattisgarh to the north-east and Odisha to the east.

and a population of 35,286,757 (2011 census) which was 41.6% of the population
of Andhra Pradesh.
