OUTLINE
Electricity infrastructure has been identified as one of the pillars that will facilitate the Government of Kenya achieve its Vision 2030 objective of transforming Kenya into a middle-income economy. Thus the Government of Kenya is to increase electricity access rate to 40% by 2020 from the current 32%. Kenya Power has in in its 5 year Corporate Strategic Plan, to achieve a customer base of 3Million by 2016 from the current total of 2.2 million (March 2013). For the 2012/13 financial year, the target is to connect 300,0000 customers.

Inclusive crimes Persons who steals or, with intent to steal, breaks, throws down or damages any works, legally trades or improperly uses any of the electrical energy , extinguishes or causes to be extinguished any public lamps; vandalizes or damages any works. severs any conductor, transformer or part thereof, insulator, tower, reactor, jumper or other installations; Enhanced punishment commits an offence and is liable, on conviction, to a fine of not less than five million shillings or to imprisonment for a term of not less than ten years, or to both.
