AFTER THE FIRE PERFORM LITTER CONTROL
BALLSTON SPA - After The Fire has adopted the Assembly-man Jim Tedisco Fitness Trail in Ballston Spa for litter control since 2006. Members make regular trips as soon as the snow has gone for the season, until the snow files again. The Village has placed a trash recepticle at each end of the trail, and users of the trail have been increasingly diligent about using them. Everyone is urged to carry their trash to the recepticles (ciga-rette butts included), as a courtesy to others, to obey the law, and to maintain the aesthetics of the trail. After The Fire helps residents of Saratoga County who have suffered a loss due to fire. They are a non-profit organization that exists entirely on donations and is comprised totally of volunteers, which are always needed. After The Fire provides family members with personal care items, gift cards, Red Cross referral, infor-mational material, emotional support - whatever is needed to help the family through a terrible situation. Anyone inter-ested in helping their neighbors in need may leave a mes-sage on voicemail at 435-4571 or visit www.afterthefire.org.

RECENTLY RETIRED AND LOOKING FOR MEANINGFUL
VOLUNTEER WORK?SARATOGA REGION - I am I can is a 501(c)3 organization that was created to mentor girls in grades 9 - 12. Programs provide needed encouragement, guidance and advocacy to students as they navigate their high school years and move toward post-graduation goals. We are seeking adult female mentors to work with students on a weekly basis. As a mentor you would spend time with and get to know your student, while developing a relationship that provides support and guidance. If you are a recently retired woman looking for some meaningful volunteer work, this may be for you. This program focuses not as much on job skill mentor-ing, but more on providing a positive role model in the stu-dent’s life. You will help the student to develop core values and “encourage young women to discover their dreams, to believe in endless possibilities while empowering them to make it happen”. The organization is currently looking for mentors in the Clifton Park to Glens Falls areas. Immedi-ate needs are to support girls in Hudson Falls, South Glens Fall, Glens Falls and Ballston Spa school districts. If you have time on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and would like to have a positive impact on a girl in your community, please con-tact Founder, Avon Scherff at 518-688-3010 ext 102, or email Avon@scherffi nsurance.com.
