EA-8/21/19-03 -- Job Description RESOLVED, that the Clifton Board of Education accepts the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools to update the following existing job description:
School Nurse – Non-Certificated EA-8/21/19-04 -- Statutory Readoption of Evaluation Rubric RESOLVED, that the Clifton Board of Education accepts the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools to readopt the following evaluation rubrics for use in the certificated staff evaluation process described in policies #3221, #3222, 3223 and #3224: Charlotte Danielson Model including: The Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument, Rubric for School Counselors and Nurses Rubric. NJ Loti Principal Evaluation Instrument, NJ Loti Assistant/Vice Principal Evaluation Instrument and NJ Loti Supervisor Evaluation Instrument EA-8/21/19-05 -- Submission of the 2019-2020 District Mentoring Plan RESOLVED, that the Clifton Board of Education accepts the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools to submit the 2019-2020 District Mentoring Plan and Statement of Assurance to the Office of the Interim Passaic County Superintendent of Schools. EA-8/21/19-06 -- Agreement with the Boys & Girls Club for CHS Swim Team Practice RESOLVED, that the Clifton Board of Education accepts the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools to finalize a contract agreement for the 2019-2020 school year with the Clifton Boys and Girls Club in the amount of $7,500.00 for the purpose of conducting practice for the Clifton High School Swim Team, including use of the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms, six swimming lanes in the 25 yard pool, the bleachers for spectators at swim meets, and a lifeguard on duty at all times the pool is in use. EA-8/21/19-07 -- Walgreens to Provide Flu Shots RESOLVED, that the Clifton Board of Education accepts the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools to grant interested faculty and staff, at designated schools, the flu vaccination provided by Walgreens. Clifton Public Schools will coordinate with interested faculty and staff throughout the District in order to encourage participation. EA-8/21/19-08 -- Appointment for Special Education Services
RESOLVED, that the Clifton Board of Education accepts the recommendation of the
Superintendent of Schools to appoint the following entity for the 2019-2020 school year to provide services to Clifton resident pupils who are in-district, home-based, and/or attending out-of-district schools. All services are to be used on an as needed basis.

Fees: AT Evaluation $925, AT Training $120 per hour, AAC Evaluation $1200 service, AAC Training $150 per hour and Travel $60 hour. b. Athletic Paraprofessional PUBLIC RECOGNITION: Chloe Popowich commented about students vaping at the high school. Lori Lalama spoke about PRIDE funds and asked about upcoming events in the district and the construction work at CCMS. Dr. Robertozzi commented about the construction at CCMS. Students will be able to start school safely; further work will be done at nights and on the weekends. Donna Popowich spoke about problems with rigor in schools and commented about levels of courses at the high school. She commented that students in the middle levels should have more challenging courses. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS: Mr. Montero – spoke about the problems with vaping and challenging students academically. He looks forward to working with everyone. Ms. Bassford – thanked the speakers tonight and commented that the policy committee minutes will be completed by the next Board meeting. She spoke about the upcoming CASA presentation on vaping and its side effects. She remarked that the policy committee will meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. She thanked Ms. Lalama for her dedication. She commented to parents about safety regarding parking near the schools and wished everyone a wonderful rest of the

summer. Ms. Beltran – commented about the Facebook live broadcast of tonight’s meeting. She commented to Ms. Popowich about the levels of courses at the high school and books about women. She also spoke about the dangers of vaping. She looks forward to the upcoming school year. Mr. Canova – spoke about the dangers of vaping and commented about out-of-district tuitions, before and after care, summer homework assignments and materials for students for the first day of school. Mr. Daley – extended condolences to the Eagler family and wished everyone a happy Labor Day and rest of the summer. He wished everyone a good school year. Mr. Kasper – thanked Ms. Lalama for speaking and spoke about working on a vaping policy. He will set up an education committee shortly. He wished Mr. Duvakov good luck and thanked the School #4 PTO and Women’s Club of Allwood their donations. Dr. Robertozzi – thanked Chloe Popowich for speaking and commented about vaping. He spoke about hosting parent forums regarding vaping and other pertinent topics. He commented about the new district social media platforms and asked everyone to follow them. He spoke about setting up official tours of all the schools for Board members. He thanked the maintenance and custodial personnel for all their work over the summer and commented about possible transportation issues at the beginning of the school year. He asked all parents to be patient. He also commented about the new teacher orientation, the live streaming of the Board meetings and BoardDocs. He introduced Taras Petryshyn, new Assistant Principal at School #14, and told the story of Mr. Petryshyn’s career. Mr. Petryshyn promised to work hard for the students and staff and thanked the Board for the opportunity. Dr. Robertozzi wished Mr. Durakov well in the future. Mr. Abedrabbo – commented about vaping devices and apologized for being late to tonight’s meeting. He spoke about looking forward to the new school year and new leadership. He wished Mr. Durakov the best in his future endeavors. Ms. Danny – sent condolences to the Eagler family and commented about the English reading list being posted on the district website. She also spoke about the vaping problem in schools and suggested an informative assembly for students. She thanked Mr. Durakov for his service, congratulated Mr. Petryshyn on his new position and wished everyone a happy Labor Day. NEW BUSINESS:
1. Ms. Bassford asked that the leveling of the curriculum at the high school be brought to the education committee for discussion.
2. Ms. Bassford asked that if any Board member has information regarding vaping to share it with
the policy committee for discussion.
3. Ms. Danny requested to discuss CASA’s Project Graduation. 4. Ms. Danny requested that advertising on buses be explored by Administration. There was a
discussion among Board members regarding this issue. The Board attorney commented that he will share information about the regulations regarding this type of advertising with Mr. Ucci.
8:03 PM - Ms. Bassford left the room at this time. Dr. Robertozzi shared a letter he received from CASA regarding Project Graduation. The cost to attend per student is approximately $90.00. The letter noted that fundraising for the event is becoming more difficult and it requests that the Board fund the event to allow for all senior students to attend. It was noted that the Board donates $5,000.00 each year toward the event. There was a discussion among Board members regarding this request. It was noted that approximately ¾ of the

senior students attend Project Graduation. Alternative funding for the event was discussed. The Board attorney was asked if the Board could legally fund the event. The issue of possible liability was also discussed. It was requested that all information regarding Project Graduation be supplied to the Board for consideration. 8:16 PM – Ms. Bassford returned to the Board room at this time.
5. Mr. Daley asked for a legal update on the challenge to charter school funding. The Board attorney provided a brief update. The Board was granted an accelerated time line under which to submit documents. The Board attorney will provide a court date relative to this litigation.
