What is a Designer’s Fair?

The Leather Sector has been included as a ‘Focus Sector’ under the MAKE IN INDIA programme announced by Mr. Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in September 2014. “Design” is one of the key areas identified in the initiatives under ‘Make in India’ programme.

As part of collaboration with overseas designers, a Designer’s Fair will be held during February 1-3, 2016 at Chennai, India. The organiser of the Designer Fair is Council for Leather Exports (an autonomous organisation under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India). The Designer Fair will be held coinciding with India International Leather Fair, Chennai, India, which is the largest leather fair in India and one of the popular fairs in Asia.

The Designers Fair will provide an opportunity to the Overseas Designers to present their Design Projects in India to the Indian manufacturers of leather and leather products.

The Designer’s Fair will be open to Designers of :

• Leather Footwear • Leather Goods (Wallets, Purses, Handbags etc.,)• Leather Garments • Footwear Components • Non-Leather Footwear • Saddlery & Harness • Finished Leather • Industrial & Fashion Gloves

H An Opportunity for Overseas Designers to Present their Design Projects to Indian Leather Industry

H Sponsorship of Air Ticket and Hotel Accommodation provided to Designers, subject to ceilings

H Complimentary 9 sq.mtr. fully constructed Stand for Designers.

Highlights of Desiner’s Fair

Package for Overseas Designers

- Sponsorship of return Air Ticket subject to ceiling of Euro 450 for Europe and USD 600 for USA per Designer. The Sponsorship amount will be paid to the Designers during the fair upon submission of Return Air Ticket copy.

- Sponsorship of 50% of Hotel Accommodation charges in Five Star Hotel in Chennai for 4 nights. The Designers need to pay 50% of the hotel bill for 4 nights while the balance 50% will be paid by the organiser (Council for Leather Exports)

- Complimentary Airport-pick-up and Drop

- Complimentary Fully Constructed Stand of 9 sq.mtr for displaying Design Projects/ Products which will include Name Board, Spot Lights, Shelves/Rails, Carpeting, One Table and 3 Chairs.

Opportunity to Overseas Designers

As the Indian leather industry expects a growth of 20% both on export front and in domestic market, there is immense opportunity for overseas designers to sell their projects in India. The Designer’s Fair will be the right platform to meet Indian manufacturers and exporters of leather, leather products and footwear from all over India.

How to Exhibit :Interested Overseas Designers may send their Profile in the Application Form (enclosed) to Council for Leather Exports (e-mail : [email protected]) on or before Sept. 30, 2015. The profiles will be scrutinized and the selected Designers will be informed through e-mail during Oct. 2015.

How to Visit :Manufacturers of leather, leather products and footwear interested to visit the fair are requested to their Profile in the Duly Application Form (enclosed) to Council for Leather Exports (e-mail : [email protected]) on or before Dec. 31, 2015, along with the participation fee of Rs.2500/- through a Cheque/Demand draft drawn in favour of COUNCIL FOR LEATHER EXPORTS.

The Council for Leather Exports (CLE) is the single largest and Apex trade promotion organisation of the strong and rapidly growing Indian leather & leather products industry. CLE is committed towards the overall development of Indian leather sector and achieve higher export growth to enhance India’s share in global leather trade. CLE is functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India. It is the notified Export Promotion organization for entire leather & leather products industry.
