Inordertoaccommodateawidevarietyofmusicpreferencesandmoods,thisroomwillchangedependingontheemotionsfeltatthatmoment.Thelighting,temperature,andoverallaestheticsoftheroomwillchangeinaccordancewiththetypeofmusictheindividualislisteningto.Ifanindividualislisteningtocalmingmusic,theroomwillchangetoprovideatranquilenvironment.Incontrast,ifanindividualislisteningtorapmusic,theroomwillchangeinordertoprovideanatmospheresuitedforthistypeofmusic.

Concept:Aesthetic‐ChangingRoomBasedonMusicPreferenceMusichasthepowertochangeaperson’smood,feelings,andattitude.Dependingonthetypeofmusicapersonislisteningto,theiremotionsvarydrastically.Musicispowerfulenoughtorelievestress,providerelaxation,andevenproducemotivationandeuphoria.Intermsofrelaxation,musicrelievesmuscletensionandcontributestoaslowerbreathingrate.Thiscombinationprovidesastressrelievertotheindividuallistening.Incontrast,listeningtomusiccanalsofosterasenseofhappinessinindividuals.Byreleasingserotonininthebody,musichelpsraisepositivefeelingsinlisteners[1].Sincepeople’smoodsvarydependingonthetypeofmusictheyarelisteningto,shouldn’ttheirsurroundingsdothesame?Inordertoaccommodateawidevarietyofmusicpreferencesandmoods,thisroomwillchangedependingontheemotionsfeltatthatmoment.Thelighting,temperature,andoverallaestheticsoftheroomwillchangeinaccordancewiththetypeofmusictheindividualislisteningto.Differentcolorshavevariousassociationswithmoodandemotionalfeelings.Colors,suchasblue,helpfosterfeelingsofpeaceandtranquility.Warmcolors,suchasorange,expressfeelingsofenergyandliveliness[2].Thelightinginthisroomwillchangedependingonthetypeofmusictheindividualislisteningto.Forexample,ifthemusicpreferenceiscalming,thenbluelightswillbedisplayedthroughouttheroom.Thetemperatureoftheroomalsohasaprofoundimpactonmood.Forexample,sunnyweatherhasapositiveimpactonmentalhealthandoverallmood[4].Thisroomwillhaveadigitalizedwallthatchangesimagesofweatherandvariousseasons.Ifanindividualislisteningtohappy,upbeatmusic,thenanimageofasunnybeachwillbedisplayed.Incontrast,ifapersonislisteningtomoresubduedmusic,thenimagesofrainorthunderstormswillbeproduced.Thisroomwillalsobeequippedwithsurroundsoundinordertoprovideamorerealisticenvironmentcomparabletoaliveconcert.Overall,thisroomwillprovidethelistenerwithacomfortablespaceinwhichtheycancombinetheirmusicpreferenceswithasuitableenvironmenttoenhancetheirmood.Withthecombinationofthesefactors,theindividualwillhaveamusicexperiencelikeneverbefore.
