Welcome to Worship!
Whether you've been around St. Luke's for many years or
you're just starting, whether your life is going well or
falling apart, whether you're convinced in your beliefs or
questioning everything - we're happy you're here. We
want to be a community that brings Jesus to you.

Reflections
"Work hard, then, on the disappointment or anticlimax
which is certainly coming to the patient during his first
few weeks as a Christian. The Enemy [God] allows this
disappointment to occur on the threshold of every
human endeavor. It occurs when the boy who has been
enchanted in the nursery by Stories from the Odyssey
buckles down to really learning Greek. It occurs when
lovers have got married and begin the real task of
learning to live together. In every department of life it
marks the transition from dreaming aspiration to
laborious doing. And there lies our opportunity. But
also, remember there lies our danger. If once they get
through this initial dryness successfully, they become
much less dependent on emotion and therefore much
harder to tempt."
- C.S. Lewis Screwtape Letters
"The readers had been unconverted Gentiles
before they came to know Christ, and even now
they can still be addressed as ‘you Gentiles’ (3:1;
cf. 2:11). What is more, they are currently living
in a Gentile environment. Although they once
lived as unconverted pagans (2:1–2), they must
now abandon this lifestyle. They have been
raised and seated with Christ in the heavenly
places (2:6), and have become members of ‘the
one new man’ (2:15). Let them demonstrate a
manner of life that conforms to the character of
this new man, Jesus Christ himself."

write her a card sharing the difference she has made in
your life. If you did not bring a card today, you can mail

Strengthening Marriages Luncheon ~
Sunday, August 16th, we will be studying
what Ephesians 5:21-33 has to say to married
couples (and anyone who might ever be
married!). We invite you to a free luncheon in
the Oasis from 11:45 AM—1:00 PM to hear Mickey and
Sandy Preston share honestly about their marriage
journey and talk about some helpful things they've
learned over the years. We believe marriages are
important, and the goal for this lunch is to eat at tables
with other couples who have been married for roughly
the same length of time and be intentional about
strengthening our marriages. This is totally
free! Childcare provided. To RSVP, please sign up in the
Worship Center lobby or at www.stlukemesa.com.
Flowers have been placed in the Worship Center to the
glory of God by Judy Leech in memory of her son Mark
Flander.
