About Chervona Ruta
Ukraine is the motherland of Russian Orthodoxy. It is the largest and the most vibrant country in Europe, situated on the border of the European and Eastern parts of the continent. It is the land of the Cossacks – brave and skillful horseback warriors who ruled these lands from their capital, Zaporizhyan Sich. Ukraine boasts a multitude of ethnicities and cultures that manifest themselves in customs, traditions and architecture from different parts of the world. It greets its guests with numerous picturesque views from rolling green hills and emerald Carpathian Mountains in the West to dry steppes in the East, and from wooded valleys in the North to the tranquil lakes and golden beaches of the Crimean Peninsula in the South.

Cossacks ruled these lands as an independent republic within the Russian Empire. During our stay in Zaporizhya we visit Khortytsya Island to witness the most fascinating Cossack Show performed by real Cossacks-artists. The city and its surroundings are situated in the famous Tavria Region with its wide steps, gardens, vineyards and cornfields. From Kherson our guests are taken to the beautiful Dnieper River delta, stopping off en route at a traditional fishing village.

The history of Kremenchuk begins from the fortress erected in this area in 1571 to protect the southern borders of the Russian Empire from Tatars. In the 16th century the town was the center of the tobacco producing industry in the region. During the Crimean War, Kremenchuk was a major shipbuilding powerhouse. Our guests will visit a local school where the head of the school will give them an overview of the Ukrainian education system. Our tourists will also visit a museum of bread and ethnography. After that we will witness a performance by the vocal and dance ensemble from the local school. To conclude the excursion, local people invite the tourists home to treat them to traditional Ukrainian food and drinks. In our view, this is the best way to experience the renowned Ukrainian hospitality.

Founded in the 11th century by Kyivan Prince Yaroslav the Wise, this pleasant city is known today primarily for being the burial site of the most famous and renowned Ukrainian artist and poet Taras Shevchenko. The gravesite of the father of the modern Ukrainian language is considered to be one of the most worshipped sites of Ukrainian people. A wide-scale program of development of Taras Shevchenko’s reservation culminated in 2010. That same year a newly constructed museum dedicated to the poet was revealed to the public. During the trip to Taras’ Hill our guests will get acquainted with the work of Taras Shevchenko and can enjoy an unprecedented view of the Dnieper River from the top of the hill.
