It’s All Go this Autumn!
Updates, Notices and ... News in Brief Year 6 Parent Meeting – secondary schools and SATs—
Pleased to see so many of you there on Tuesday for the briefing
on important year 6 events. We covered the end of year
government tests (often called SATs), the year 6 residential trip to
Thames Young Mariners and secondary school applications and
transfer. I know some weren’t able to be there and so the
presentation shared on the evening is available on our website.

School Dinners – Gold Award! - Congratulations to ISS and in
particular Sinead and her team in the kitchen who been awarded
the Food for Life gold standard. I am particularly pleased that ISS
are also helping us with our curriculum and all year groups have
elements in the curriculum that relate to different aspects of food.
ISS provide school meals in about 100 schools in Richmond and
Kingston and on Tuesday next week
we are hosting a celebration event
with ISS at the end of the day with
food tastings for children and parents
– come along and try some!
Coffee morning—Starting next
week Tuesday 25th
September upstairs in The Cab-
bage Patch house Mrs Wood will
be hosting a coffee morning that any
parents can drop in to. It’s a social time so you can meet and get
to know each other. Little ones are welcome to come as well.
After school clubs—these will start next week (week
commencing 24th September). Please remember to let the
office know if your child is not attending for any reason.
Chase Bridge Community Choir—Don’t hide your voice
behind the shower head
or shampoo bottle...!
Now the kids are back at
school how about fitting in
something for yourself?
“Tuesday night is one of
the few moments I have
for myself. I enjoy it very
much, it’s challenging,
emotional and enlightening and imbues me with a very nice
vibe.” Chase Bridge Community Choir is for parents and mem-
bers of the community to come together, sing, laugh, have fun,
and perform to family and friends.
We meet every Tuesday between 7.45 and 9.45pm at the
school. Our singers are of mixed ability from hardened singing
veterans to newbies who haven’t even flirted with a
karaoke machine before. Rehearsals are fun and engaging.
Studies have shown you get the same endorphin release from
singing as exercising. So come and set those endorphins free!
Check us out at chasechoir.co.uk and email us at
Flu immunisation forms—these need to be returned to
school as soon as possible to Amy Gray. If your child isn’t
having the flu immunisation, you still need to return the
form with a negative response.
Boundless Dance—Miss Scott is teaching a Drama class at
Holy Trinity Church in Twickenham on a Monday evening from
6.00pm. If your child would like to sign up please check out
their website at www.boundlessdance.co.uk

It feels as though we are getting properly stuck in to the autumn term now and it’s wonderful to see all the exciting activities, teaching and
learning that are going on throughout the school. The lead picture above is year 5—they’re all learning what is was like in a Victorian class-
room. They started with a fingernail inspection and so far no one has had to stand in the corner with the dunces cap on! There are little
snippets of what the different year groups are up to on the back page of the newsletter with links to the curriculum pages on the website
that give more detail about the teaching plans for the year and what you can do to help your children. Click here for our curriculum pages.
And now it’s autumn it’s conker season! Even at my age, when I probably should know better, I still get excited about finding beautiful conk-
ers. The children can bring them in and if they have them on a string have battles with them at playtime – I’m looking forward to it already!
