Our lovely Kindy mums were treated to a morning of indulgence by their children to celebrate Mother’s Day. A beauty bar was set up offering all sorts of treats, including nail polish, leg shaving (with pop sticks of course) and head and neck massage. After their beauty treatments mums and students got to share in a delicious morning tea enjoyed in the sunshine. Thanks mums for all the things that you do and for just being amazing.

Lots of Building at MRPS There has been a lot of construction going on in our school over the course of this term. Room 18 has now been replaced, furniture has been delivered and we are in the final stages of connecting water, power and communication services to the building. We are looking forward to moving students into their new classroom sometime next week once all installations have been completed. Builders have been busy in the western student toilet block with a renovation of both boys and girls toilets. Funding for this has been provided to the school by the Department of Education and we look forward to the renovation being completed by the end of the term.
Parking and Traffic Flow We all know that there are limited parking spaces around our school and with a significant increase in enrolments over the past few years it can be tricky to get in and out of the roads around the school each day. Our grounds committee met two weeks ago and discussed some possible options to ease off the parking pressure. This has been discussed by our School Board and we will be meeting with the Shire in coming weeks to try and develop our ideas further. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this period of rapid growth.
Walk to School Day Make sure that you join in on Walk to School Day this Friday and come along to the assembly when you arrive at school for some watermelon. Walking to school is not only a healthy option but helps reduce traffic congestion in and around the school.
Helping Out After the Fire We have received so many offers of assistance from the community and would like to formally acknowledge our local IGA store who will be contributing $1500 to the school from the Community Chest. Bunnings have been by our side and raised money for us at the sausage sizzle last Saturday morning. We have ordered lots of resources and books to replace those lost in the fire and will let you know when we need help covering them and getting them reading for students to use. Thank you again to the whole community for your generous support.
Thank you;

Bunnings Get Us Growing
Wendy from Bunnings visited PrePrimary on Wednesday 11th May with kind donations of soil and
seedlings for our raised vegetable garden beds. The children helped to prepare the soil and then plant
winter vegetables including; broccoli, cauliflower, kale, chard, carrots, beetroot, cabbage, herbs and
some pretty pansies. There was extra seedlings which were donated to the Kindy. We all had lots of fun
and enjoyed the sunshine.
Learn to make and make to learn!
The Early Years Makerspace is expanding to the
T’s to cater for our innovative Year 4 and 5

A Makerspace is a place for all students, creative
and not creative, to come and explore their ideas
using raw materials, tools, technology,
repurposed items and imagination. It is a space
where students are able to work individually and
collaboratively to make their ideas a reality.
A place to invent, innovate and inspire!
Please bring your collections to Room 10, Room 8,
Room T3 or Room T7.
We need parent and community assistance to form an ongoing collection of reusable materials. If you are able to start collecting any of the following:

Student Health and Wellbeing
MRPS Code of Conduct incorporates six core values: Cooperation, Empathy, Enthusiasm, Flexibility, Honesty and Respect
Cooperation At Margaret River Primary School, one of our core values is Cooperation, which is where we work together to achieve success. You show cooperation when you work in a small group to accomplish a task, when you allow each person in a group to have a say, volunteer at home to help out and when you play a team sport and work toward a common goal. Remember, many hands make light work.
SDERA Resilience and Wellbeing Resilience is the ability to “bounce back from adversity” in order to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.
Self-awareness Skills for recognising and labelling own emotions.
Feeling competent in several areas of one’s life.
Awareness of the link between thoughts, emotions, behaviour and learning.
Awareness of factors that influence successes and mistakes.
Realistic and positive self-knowledge of strengths and challenges.
Skills of reflective practice.
Everyone has bad times and these times don’t last forever, everyone has bad things happen to them that they can’t change, everyone makes mistakes, and everyone feels rejected, lonely or sad at some stage in their life.
Talking to others when you are having a bad time, are worried or unhappy will help you put things into perspective and bounce back. Talking to someone about our problems can sometimes take courage and is a sign of strength not weakness.
Help your child to practise these skills at home; Be able to identify their strengths and challenges.
Be able to know what might influence their successes and mistakes.
Be able to see that the way they think about mistakes and negative situations can affect how they
feel and behave.
Be able to self-reflect on their behaviour and decisions.
Practising helpful and positive thinking.
Thank you for playing a vital role in your child’s resilience and wellbeing education.
School Photos Remember school photos are available to view and

The students from T8, Year 1, enjoyed a
lovely Wednesday morning visiting the
High School farm.
They fed chickens and alpacas, looked at
marron, cows and sheep, visited the
shearing shed, looked at the hay shed,
saw how the vegies were grown and had
a sit in the big blue tractor.
Thank you to the High School students
and parent helpers who assisted with our
excursion. The children had a wonderful
time being immersed in their Term 2
inquiry topic “Farm Life.”
