CONNECTION
Now It Springs ForthRev. Greg Bunton, Associate Minister of Student Ministries
Dont Miss Our Final Table Conversation! This Sunday, June 26
at 9:15am in the Fellowship HallWhat a refreshing time we have had these past three Sundays, sstories of our greatest strengths, laughing together, crying toge
and lifting up dreams for our future.
We hope you will join us this last Sunday of re:NEW as we look at the common theme whicemerged, re ect on the dreams thus far, and celebrate where God is leading First Christia
And be sure to take part in our lastUni ed Worship of the re:NEW
process at 10:45am!www.fccedmond.org/renew
Recently my wife and Idid someplanting in our
backyard. Itsamazing howtrees, shrubs,and flowers
can change a landscape! Their color, size, shape, and smell all work togetherto transform places that were once blandand barren into eye-catching sanctuariesof beauty. As I sit and admire our newlylandscaped area, I cant help but givethanks to God for the gift of natureand the way in which it transforms andrenews.
At the same time, I also recognizethat credit for the newly landscapedspace must also go to my wife, kids, and countless others who have helped
take the gifts of God and given themthe opportunity to grow. Without theirhands, the transformation and renewal of that space would not have occurred. Godgives us visions and dreams, as well as thegifts to accomplish them, but we must dothe work!
I see our renewal process much likethis landscaping project. We have begunto cast visions and dreams, and God hasgiven each of us gifts to accomplish these, however we must do the work!
Our scripture this Sunday is from theprophet Isaiah and simply says, I amabout to do a new thing; now it springsforth, do you not perceive it? I am pretty
certain that our renewal sessions over thepast 3 weeks have clearly showed us thatGod is about to do a new thing at FirstChristian Church. We definitely perceiveit! But in order for it to spring forth, wemust do our part.
This Sunday we will be celebratingthe opportunity we have to work togetheras a congregation, with each other and
with God, to transform and renew thelandscape of our church and community.Come, dream with us. Come, serve withus. Come, worship with us. Come, renew
