Aston HallTe construction o this Grade I listed Jacobean hallwas commenced in 1618 to the designs o John Torpeor Sir Tomas Holte. In 1864 the hall and park were purchased by Birmingham City Council.

King Edward VI Grammar SchoolTe red brick School was opened in 1883 and althoughmuch altered and extended it still presents an imposing and attractive rontage to Albert Road.

Broadway Comprehensive School

Broadway Comprehensive (Lower) School onWhitehead Road opened i n 1900 as the Aston HigherElementary Council School. It was later used as a schoolor dea and partially sighted children.

Fire Station, Eddington RoadTe Fire station on Eddington Road dates rom theinterwar period.

Prince Albert Junior and Inant SchoolPrince Albert Junior and Inant School ronts ontoFrederick Road, Whitehead Road and Albert Road.Tese buildings date rom 1881.

Christ Church Baptist ChurchChrist Church Baptist Church on Victoria Road wasdesigned by James Cranston o Oxord and it was builtin 1864-65.

Aston Library and OcesAston Library and Oces on the corner o Wittonand Frederick Roads dates rom the late 1880’s. It wasormally the Council House.

Urban Living Heritage AssessmentsTe Urban Living area stretches rom Aston in the east toWest Bromwich in the west along the line o Soho Road andthe Birmingham Canal. Tis is the area which helped to shapethe industrial world in the late 18th and 19th centuries, and it’sstill producing the things that people want today. Tere is aninternationally signicant legacy o canals and industrial heritagewhich continues to help to dene the identity o the area.

Urban Living has commissioned a new series o postcards and

heritage walks to provide a resh glimpse o some o the manyimportant historic structureswhich have survived. DetailedHeritage Assessments havealso been commissionedby Urban Living to providea comprehensive anddetailed appreciation o the archaeological andhistoric developmento the area.

Mount Beaulah Apostolic ChurchTe Mount Beaulah Apostolic Church on Witton Roadwas originally a mission church set up in 1891. It is arare survival o a corrugated iron ‘in abernacle’ stillused or its original purpose.

Sacred Heart and St Margaret Mary ChurchChurch o the Sacred Heart and St Margaret Mary onWitton Road was opened in 1922 and consecrated in1933. Te Italian Romanesque design with Byzantineinterior being by George Cox.

erraced Housing (Grove) DevelopmentsSouth and East sides o Fentham Road including all o the back errace (grove) developments, built c.1900.Tese properties are notable or their superior detailing and use o terracotta to the eaves.

Holy rinity Parish ChurchHoly rinity Parish Church on rinity Road was built in1864 to the design o the Birmingham Architect, JuliusAlred Chatwin. Te Church is Grade II* Listed.

Te Holte HotelTe late 19th century Holte Hotel is associated with theamous Holte End o the nearby Aston Villa ootball

ground and Holte amily o Aston Hall. Te building isdesigned using an eclectic mix o Jacobean motis whichrelate to the nearby Hall.

Te Parish Church o St Peter and St PaulTe Parish Church o St Peter and St Paul on WittonLane dates back to medieval times. It was howeversubstantially rebuilt by Julius Alred Chatwin in 1879-90. Te steeple is a 15th century survival.
