FALL IS COMING!FALL IS COMING!FALL IS COMING!FALL IS COMING!FALL IS COMING!
Hard to believe that the summer is almost over! You couldn’t tell by
the temperature. But sure enough, before long school will be in, football willdominate our TVs and the weather will get cooler. We have an exciting fall instore for you at FHUMC! Here are just a few of the highlights:
GAMECHANGERS SERMON SERIES
On Aug. 15, we’ll kick off a new sermon series – “GameChangers”. Justlike one play can change the outcome of a ballgame, there are events in ourlives that change the game for us too. Individuals we encounter, circumstancesbeyond our control, choices we make, things others did and encounters withChrist all shape our lives and often change the outcome.
We’ll follow that series with BE OUR GUEST, a three-week series abouthow we might better reach out to others and offer true hospitality. We’ve agreat fall series of sermons lined up just for you!
CONNECT EVENT & SMALL GROUPS
We’ll also give you a chance to take your Next Step by joining one ofour many small groups. New groups are forming too. During the past year, many of you took your Next Step by joining a small group, and have ex-pressed how grateful you are for doing so. We will give all of you anotherchance to get in on this important step of your spiritual formation this fall.
On Sunday, Aug. 22 at 6:00 pm, we will have our second ConnectEvent in Room 125. You will have the chance to meet the small group leaders, hear about what they will study and join the group that fits you best. We willalso offer other bible studies this fall – look for the brochure with a listing of thestudies and sign up so you do not miss out!
STEP ONE & TWO CLASSES
In September, we will offer Step One and Step Two classes. Over 50people took Step One this past spring and are ready to move on to Step Two.
Step One – More than Membership explores our Methodist tradition, our purpose as a church and what it means to be a member. You’ll hear aboutour vision and our process for moving people closer to Christ. Step Two –Maturity will focus on giving you tools for improving your spiritual growth.
Hope you are excited about the Fall of 2010 at FHUMC. We sure are!
