THE DESIGN BUSINESS SUMMIT2015
Design is the process of transforming ideas and concepts into meaningful products, services and experiences for the benefit of businesses that offer them and the consumers that desire them.In an increasing complex world of rapidly changing tech-nology and where consumers are spoilt for choices and expect instant gratification, businesses are under tremen-dous pressure to differentiate themselves from their com-petitors and to deliver exceptional experiences. More and more, not only do designers from across disciplines have to come together to work collaboratively, they also have to work with experts from other fields such as anthropology and sociology, trends and foresight, infocomm technology, engineering, materials science, business strategy and management, to innovate new products, services and experiences. The Design Business Summit, the feature conference of the Singapore Design Week, is the single platform in Singapore that brings design and business thought leaders, experts and practitioners together as a commu-nity to share, discuss and inspire each other to make the world a better place to live in.

Dating back to 1985, Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS) is Singapore’s premiere multidisciplinary design busi-ness chamber, with a dynamic community of over 160 business leaders, practitioners and academia from diverse backgrounds.
Alongside championing holistic design practices for global com-petitiveness, DBCS also seeks to raise the standard of profes-sional practices and create new business opportunities through cross-collaborations in local and international contexts.
The Singapore Design Awards (SDA) honours outstanding designers, design students and design practices from across the world and it remains the leading design award in Southeast Asia.
SDA aims to raise awareness for the region and the strategic role of designers with Singapore at the heart of a dynamic Southeast Asia. Any designer and business seeking to raise its profile in this region must consider SDA as its gateway.
The highly anticipated event of the year for the 9 partner design associations under DesignS as well as contributors in the design industry. The ‘Oscars’ of the local design industry gather annually to recognise the design talents and projects that push-es our little red forward as a creative powerhouse.
Past winners of this year’s awards include prominent projects like Gardens by the Bay, Marina Barrage, SIA Silverkris lounge and products by Electrolux, Philips and Muji.
Singapore Good Design Mark 2015 sgmark.org
