How Information and Communication Technologies are used to assist learning
Social climate
Parent, student and teacher satisfaction with the school
The school endeavours to embed the use of Information and Communication Technologies in every aspect of the teaching learning cycle. Students from Prep to Year 7 regularly access one of the two computer laboratories with 30 computers in each, not only to learn computing skills but also to enhance their learning. Each classroom has a computer and data projector to support the learning program. The school is networked via fibre optic cabling which supports efficient and effective data retrieval. Teachers have access to online curriculum resources and school data storage to support the development of teaching/learning programs focused on the learning needs of all students in our school. In 2010, teachers utilized an online reporting tool to support continuous assessment for and of learning.
The school ensures that at every available formal and informal opportunity the development of a positive school culture is developed through the teaching and modelling of core Gospel Values. We achieve this in a variety of ways: * Making Jesus Real philosophy is at the core of all we do. * Positive Behaviour is not only policy but is taught, rewarded and re-enforced. * Guidance Counsellor services * You Can Do It Program * Class "Buddy" System * Working with Parish community to offer sacramental programs * Variety of learning support programs coordinated by a Student Learning Support Teacher Inclusive Education. *Communal Liturgical celebrations that focus on the major seasonal feasts in the Church year. *Support for the Parish Sacramental Program and significant participation at Parish weekend Masses once a month.
The school uses a variety of methods to gauge parental, student and teacher satisfaction with school operations. The school understands the importance of regularly reviewing approval and satisfaction levels. Last year the following formal and informal opportunities allowed the school to test the community's reaction to decisions, policy and school procedures: * Parent Forums * Twice yearly parent/teacher interviews * Parent Information nights * Year-level parent meetings. * Parent surveys related to School Renewal The vast majority of parents, students and staff expressed overwhelming satisfaction with the direction and quality of educational programs implemented.

Expenditure on and teacher participation in Professional Learning The total funds expended on teacher professional learning in 2010 was $ The major professional development initiatives were as follows
In 2010 St Mary's Primary School conducted a series of parent workshops focusing on the Australian Mathematics Curriculum and the subsequent teaching/learning strategies that are employed in the classroom. A key aspect of the workshops was the provision of resources and strategies for parents to use at home to support their child/ren's Mathematical development. A series of Parent Information sessions on the school's Positive Behaviour Support policy and procedures were conducted. The School Board and Parents and Friends Association are vehicles used by the school to involve parents in the school beyond the classroom. Two parent forums were conducted, under the guidance of School Board members, in order to ascertain parent input into the development of the school's Relationship Policy. Parent/teacher conferences are held at least twice per year with teachers availing themselves regularly to less formal meetings with parents. Many parents play an active role in supporting their child's education through classroom helping, sporting team coaching and membership of various parent committees.
