staff and clients to communicate and update each other in real time using
various forms of electronic media (Smartphone, PDAs, XDAs or Note

drivers were manually checked, scanned and uploaded to the back
office system. This meant that staff were always busy with manual
process and paperwork.

of this transformation journey, it was decided to engage an organization with
Ebase Xi expertise.

CONSULTATION AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES.

• As this was the first time Ebase Xi was being used by ICT, Schnell took a
CONSULTATIVE APPROACH. Under this approach, we were actively
involved in every stage of the development cycle. Schnell contributed to
the initial design and architecture whilst successfully developing and testing
the eforms.
• During the initial phases of development, we invested a considerable
amount of time understanding the various integration requirements with
several back office systems. Being an Ebase Xi expert and having helped
several local authorities on the Service Transformation path, we shared our
in-depth understanding of the platform by DEMONSTRATING SOA
ARCHITECTURE for developing eforms in Ebase Xi.

BEST PRACTICE GUIDE for development and naming conventions. This best
practices guide was then used by ICT and Schnell's specialist Ebase

The challenge
• A well known company at the forefront of designing and manufacturing
industrial bake ware solutions using CAD/CAM design was asked to
shorten its Sales Order cycle and improve customer interaction. One of
the challenges faced by them was the INABILITY OF THE SALES TEAM TO
DESIGN AND DEMONSTRATE CAD tray models on-site because of the
high performance server hardware required to generate CAD models.

• Our client’s business PROCESSES WERE QUITE UNIQUE and couldn’t be
covered by any ready-made solution available on the market. Schnell suggested
custom development of simple web based application which turned out to be
an ideal and cost-effective solution.

and its demo installations to let client get a feel of the would-be solution and
its functionality.

• As with all our projects, Schnell's consultants invested considerable
amount of time in understanding the Sales Order Cycle and the challenges
faced by the mobile sales team. Once all the software and hardware
limitations were identified, we came up with a secure, flexible and a simple
application OTDI - Online Tray Design Interface.
• OTDI is a custom built, state of the art web-application system that allows
the sales team to access their tray design software (VB API and Inventor)
via a secure link in a browser without the need to install any software on
their laptops.

• Sales team use its simple intuitive interface to capture all the inputs
required for generating a baking tray CAD model. OTDI's built-in
validations ensure all data captured is correct and in the required format.
Real –time data is then sent to a back office server with high performance
hardware to generate the necessary CAD model. The generated CAD
model is demonstrated to the client instantly. Any revisions or
modifications to the design are performed right away until desired results
are achieved and agreed by the clients. All this happens in a matter of
minutes, rather than days.
