Recital includes Dvořák’s “American” Quartet and music by Simon &
Garfunkel, the Beach Boys, Metallica, Queen, and Eurythmics.
Concert features, marches and show tunes, including “West Side Story.” Park in garage on Fifth and Stewart Streets or on the street. Bring chairs or blanket for seating. Raffle and refreshments available. In case of rain, concert will be at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street.

STRINGS IN THE SUMMER
v Thursdays: Introduction to Fiddle and Folk Music Designed primarily for younger students, and for violinists, violists and cellists of any age who have limited experience. Must be able to play a one-octave D scale and read notes within the staff. Dates: July 26, August 2, August 9, August 16 Time: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
v Thursdays: String Ensemble For advanced beginner to intermediate players of all ages. Fun tunes for orchestra. Arrangements for violin, viola, cello, and bass. Dates: July 26, August 2, August 9, August 16
Time: 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. All classes are held at: St. Paul’s Lutheran Family Church 1201 N. Saliman Rd. Carson City

Youth Strings 2018-2019 Season
Carson City Symphony’s comprehensive program of string instruction, inspired by the teachings of Kató Havas, creator and author of The New Approach to Violin Playing, provides free beginning violin lessons for students in grades 2-5, beginning cello for students in grade 5, and ensemble/orchestra experience for strings students in all grades in the Carson City School District. Tuition and books are subsidized by the Carson City Symphony Association. Education Director is Sue Jesch, Laura Gibson is violin and ensemble instructor; Lou Groffman is STRAZZ and cello instructor.
Enrollment is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Some scholarships are available for instruments. Please do not rent or purchase an instrument until after the first class. To register, call Sue Jesch at 775-450-5584.
