• New document on Institutes approved by Senate• .• Staff joining Institutes need to agree formally on their
affiliation to the Institutes with their Heads of Schools and Deans, which should agree for them to conduct part of their research at the Institute (Deans charged with doing so).• A postgraduate member need be appointed to the
Board of the Institutes, including the OI. Elections to be conducted.

• Buildings• Watermans: progress made, plans advanced and
iterated through users groups.• IOMRC: First cut at possible distribution. Space
available < 60% of requested. Need to use limited space in the best interest of OI (i.e. avoid duplications, enhanced capacities above present, attract new members).
Shaun Collin leads this with participation from various members and assistance from Christine Shervington.

Center of Excellence on Ocean Solutions
• An opportunity to develop a Center of Excellence on Ocean Solutions. A first draft document to be produced by September.• Seed money to develop this from VC

Training on Ocean Solutions• Framing undergraduate opportunities and trajectories on
ocean sciences and technology at UWA (need info. from staff).
• Short professional courses.• Master Program - research and course-based
(professionals).• Offer postgraduate courses on Ocean Solutions that
complement existing programs.• Short course on safe boating and diving best practices
(mandatory) - OI leader: Euan Harvey.
