THE BEGINNING
Our project is going to hopefully take place in the MPR on May 26th from 1:30pm-5:30pm. (We are seeking
permission today.) We are going to host a (Fun)draiser to collect school supplies for children in need. At the
event, there will be games and other childhood activities, as well as a photo booth. The goal of this is to promote
the importance of early childhood education. We will be collecting school supplies at the event and will also have
boxes placed around campus to collect them (hopefully in Williamson, the PUB, and the library, as well as most of
the dorms). Our hopeful results are to collect enough school supplies to donate to a low income school to make
a difference.
By next week we plan on having permission from everyone and that is when we will set up our flyers and boxes.
Then the next week we will host our event. Then, after that we will donate our school supplies before the final
presentation. For the final presentation we will be creating a photo essay describing what we've done.
PREPARATIONS
This week we worked on decorating boxes and making posters and flyers for our fundraiser event. We went
around and got all of the flyers hung up and the boxes placed. We also made sure we had all of our supplies ready
for the event.
Next week, on May 26th at 1:30pm will be our fundraiser event in the PUB MPR. We will be having games and
other fun childhood activities for people to do. This week we will work on promoting and advertising the event
and also making sure everything is ready to go for next week. Then we will take our school supplies that we
collect to Stevens Elementary in Spokane after the event is over. We are also taking pictures of everything we are
doing to include in our photo essay presentation to the class.
BE A CHILD AGAIN
This week we put on our fundraiser event in the MPR. We had board games, coloring, play dough, sidewalk chalk,
snacks, and a photo booth. We also had a place where people could donate school supplies. We have had donation
boxes around campus all week to collect supplies and we will be donating them to Stevens Elementary in
Spokane this Friday.
A lot of people attended our event and seemed to have a lot of fun. It was a good way to spread awareness about
the importance of early childhood education.
Over the next week, we will be donating our school supplies and creating a photo map to present our project to
the class next week.
