CANADA STAR SECONDARY SCHOOL
Credit courses offered by Canada Star Secondary School are accredited by the Ministry of Education in British Columbia.
Our knowledgeable academic advisers are graduates of the University of British Columbia, the University of Waterloo and other elite North American universities. Their ability to communicate in multiple languages (English, Mandarin, and Cantonese) can establish a rapport with students and parents.
Beginning in day one, each student is expected to conscientiously abide by the school rules and regulations. Tardiness, truancy, homework incompletion, and other unexplained behavior are absolutely prohibited. School advisers will periodically contact students’ parents to report their learning progress. Cooperation and guidance from both faculty and parents will help facilitate student concentration in their learning.
Each class will have an average of ten to fifteen students to allow better interaction between teacher and students. In turn, this good rapport will build student confidence in their academic journey and lead to good results.
The first term runs from September to January; the second term is from January to June. Students can graduate on time or challenge advance placement courses in order to get the advantage of admission to top universities in North America.
After many years of cooperation, we have developed a close relationship with Canadian universities. Each year, a large number of our students are admitted to the University of British Columbia, the University of Waterloo, the University of Toronto, Queen's University, McGill University and other distinguished North American universities. In 2016, through the Top University Bridge Program, we attained a 100% undergraduate admission rate, and each student was admitted to his or her preferred post-secondary institution.
All teachers are BC certified and have many years of teaching experience. All are familiar with the BC Provincial Learning Outcomes. Through high quality classroom instruction and intensive academic exercises, students are able to develop a solid foundation and to master academic skills, thereby allowing them to achieve excellent results on provincial standardized assessments.
