Fleeting Look and Lisa Carman winners of the $1,500 Camelot Hunter Challenge Finals 2018with Sponsor Nancy Frost and Trainer Meredith Bullock, Sponsor Nancy Frost.
The Camelot Hunter Challenge is a unique Handy Hunter Class, with fences at 3’, for Junior and Amateur exhibitors held at California horse shows. At the end of each round, the Judge asks the rider a question pertaining to the Hunter Division. The first and second place ribbon winners qualify for the $1500 Finals held at The Camelot Classic each year. It is a two round Finals with the second round held as a “take your own line” class with specially designed obstacles such as a walk or lead over jump, mail to be retrieved and read, a jacket to be used creatively, etc. Who knows what this year’s obstacles will be? Something including a polo mallet perhaps? The entire purse will be presented to the winning horse with 50% going to the rider, 30% to the trainer, and 20% to the groom!
Lots of Fun!

Rules and Protocol QUALIFYING
To be eligible for the finals riders must have 10 points. Both rider and trainer be (have been) members in good standing at the time the qualifying class was ridden. Qualified riders may not ride in final qualifying class at the show hosting the medal finals. To be eligible to compete in the final Medal qualifier at a Finals event, rider
and trainer must be members at least 24 hours prior to the start of the competition. HORSES
NO HORSE shall be ridden in more than one medal finals held on the same day in the same arena. The same horse must be used in all phases of Final including, but not limited to: Flat phase; Rounds One, Work-off; &Warm-up
Warm-up rounds are not required, but if ridden are considered first phase.) PROTESTS
With the exception of riders qualifying for a Medal Finals by in the qualifier at a Finals Event, eligibility protests must be filed in writing to SFHJA seven (7) days before a Medal Finals. In extreme circumstances, when ineligibility
information is only made available at the Finals show, protests must be filed with SFHJA TD at least 12 hours prior to start of competition.
MEDAL FINALS’ DRAWS It is the responsibility of exhibitors and/or their trainers to enter Medal
Final’s classes in the show office the day before (preferably) but no later than one hour prior to the draw, so eligibility verification can be confirmed. Riders not entered in a timely manner will not be include in the draw and
will be placed at the beginning of the class.
MEDAL FINALS’ PROCEEDURE Each Finals, based on rider’s age as qualified, consists of two phases: a round over
fences, and a flat phase. Same equipment must be used in both phases, except that martingales may not be used in flat phase, and may be replaced for a jumping
work-off. Judges will sit together for the flat phase giving each rider a combined score. The judges may sit together or separately for over fences phase: but give two scores, announced after each rider. Point values will be combined in the ratio of 60% for jumping and 40% for flat. Scores from the over fences round and the flat phase will be added together and carried over to determine work-off
which will be Judges' reverse order of preference — a minimum of the top four riders and any rider within in three points of the leader. Final placings will
be at the sole discretion of Judges. Work-off scores will not be announced .

Class 601 - SFHJA 17 & Under Medal Finals Sponsored by: FOUR OAKS FARM
The Medal Finals in each division will consist of two phases: one round over 3’ fences, and a flat phase. The same equipment and horse must be used in both phases, except that martingales may not be used in the flat phase. The martingale may be replaced for an over fences work off. Riders must be the correct age for their division as of the date of the medal finals to be eligible to compete. Riders will draw for their order of go. Judges will sit together for the flat phase giving each rider a combined score. The judges will sit together for the over fences phase, but give two scores with their scores being announced after each rider. The point values will be combined in the ratio of sixty percent (60%) for jumping and forty percent (40%) for flat. The judges scores will be averaged and multiplied by 60% for the over fences and 40% for the flat. A minimum of four riders, as well as any rider within in three points of the leader will be called back for a work off and will be judged by both judges sitting together. Scores from the over fences round and the flat phase will be added together and carried over to determine the work-off order, which will be Judges’ reverse order of preference. However, final placings will be at the sole discretion of the Judges, and work-off scores will not be announced.
