Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner (Caring & Sharing Dinner) Our parish’s free Thanksgiving Day dinner for the community this year was a huge success even in the midst of COVID-19. A total of 182 meals were delivered to 71 homes for folks who were homebound. This is the largest number we have seen in de-livered meals since we began sponsoring the free dinner 15 years ago. Another 468 dinners were picked up curbside, to reheat and enjoy at home. The total dinners served were 650. Last year’s total was 571 served. The spirit of caring was also in evidence by the number of volun-teers who helped prepare the meal, wash dishes, pack food in bags, coordinate with grocery stores, deliver meals and assist in many other ways. Volunteers included entire families, and many were from other faiths. Those receiving meals were appreciative and had kind words to all who helped make this happen! It was truly a day of “Thanks-giving”; a day of Caring and a day of Sharing … sharing our many blessings with others. The committee and volunteers de-serve a standing ovation—they stepped up and made this happen during this trying time when it would have been easier to not do this ministry! God Bless all who helped...it takes a village!

The GIVING TREE is up in the gather-ing area! Part of the Christmas season is giving and sharing. To that end, the SISTERS in Christ and the Knights of Columbus have adopted 20 families for whom we provide food and gifts. The ornaments on the Giv-ing Tree in the Gathering Area list the gender and age of the recipient as well as gift idea. The wrapped gift, with orna-ment securely attached, can be placed un-der the tree by Dec. 13. For those unable to shop, there will be a donation box in the Gathering Area marked "Christmas is Sharing" for your monetary contributions. We thank you all for your past generosity and look forward to your support for this project again this season. If you have any questions please call Mary Kay Johnson at 816-536-1958.

A GIFT TO OUR PARISHIONERS Is Your Life Working? Most of us are trying to put together the jigsaw puzzle we call life without a very important piece. Over time this becomes incredibly frustrating. In this extraordinary book, Matthew Kelly powerfully demonstrates that we cannot live the life we have imag-ined, or experience the joy we yearn for, unless we learn to tend the soul. From there, with his classic style of practical wisdom, he teaches us how to remedy this problem. Are you taking care of your soul? Are you feeding it and nurturing it? Or are you ignoring it and neglecting it? The reality is, most people have never really been taught how to tend their souls. I Heard God Laugh will help you to do just that, and so much more. At every turn he floods the reader with hope and demon-strates unmistakably that the best is yet to come! A copy of this book is in the gathering area. We ask that you take only one copy per family. Merry Christmas!
